If war breaks out in Ukraine, I will 100% be behind China and not the USA.

Putin recognizes donetsk and luhansk breakaway regions as independent and sends troops in for "peacekeeping". Will be interesting how things unfold over the next few days. The rhetoric coming out of whitehouse is embarassing though talking about russia creating lists of ukrainians to execute or imprison and that russia will be waging war on ukrainian people. I notice that none of the western media bother to actually show what putin says preferring to just paraphrase or interpret the statments. Would be nice when there is a major world event unfolding to just provide the raw feeds.

Well, sounds like Russians are the good guys. Protecting the democratic rights of citizens who wish to have independence.

Anyone thinking NATO would start a war with Russia over this is delusional.

Sounds like Europe feels like it's biggest hammer is to delay nord stream 2. Weird I thought Europe needed additional energy supplies. Maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe Europe is a shitshow with very little leverage.

Seems like a prime opportunity for Canada to export LNG to Europe.

Oh wait, we cancelled that pipeline and facility last year because it wasn't "net-negative" on emissions. Never mind!

Locking my natural gas contract in the fall sounded like a brilliant idea now.

Europe is cutting off it's nose to spite it's face haha. Whatever, they can all freeze to death, or pay out the ass for "Freedom gas" LNG from America. I have a feeling Russia doesn't even give a fuck anymore, it's like Putin's last hurrah. I'm pretty surprised that this has escalated to this point, I did not expect him to actually move in. I think it's a pretty bad move personally. I do love how every news says Russia broke the Minks agreement....idiots...should have done what Ukraine did, do fuck all for 8 years about it, and then look like a victim. Noone seems to talk about the fact that Ukraine is a signatory of that agreement and hasn't fulfilled it's side of the bargain for 8 years now...

Anyways, I disagree with Putin on this one. He isn't really fooling anyone, and with all the sanctions that will come their way, it's doesn't seem worth it, especially for Ukraine. Should have just let them suffocate themselves. Next up......the gas pipeline to Ukraine will be blown up by the Russians, blamed on Ukraine, and everyone in Europe will freeze to death, and Russian can move in and take over all of Europe without resistance, or Nord Stream 2 is magically approved. Ukraine will cry like a baby that the bad Russians aren't paying for gas transit anymore....despite calling Russia their biggest enemy.....bunch of idiots.

Don't know how much this will impact international oil prices.

Will fuck European natural gas supplies, but Canada has no connection to those.

Again, Putin called the break up of USSR as biggest tragedy of 20th century. As China has basically bought Europe out, it buys him an economic backdoor to get the band back. Unless the West is ready to go further and totally cut China off, Putin wins. While we are at it for close to 2 years, cutting China off is nowhere near a reality and inflation is already going nuts.

Also, I'm not sure Putin calling the separatist held region as independent country goes down well with CCP either. Sounds like their recent press release is trying support Ukraine sovereignty AND Russia security interest which at this point sounds like a contradiction.
