They should (and have been), they have no place in a peaceful protest
They should seize your vehicle, it can be used as a weapon. Doesn't matter if you have it registered and obtained it legally. Cars are scary. Everyone should take the bus and only government agencies should have control over transportation death machines.

Grow up. He handled it perfectly. He gave the municipal government a chance to get it done, gave the provincial government a chance to get it done.

When they proved inept, and were costing us $500 million per day, he hit the goons with the FINTRAC hammer.

And they ran home whining like the antivaxer cowards they are.

And you clown, its not war powers, it's emergency ones you would use whe a bunch of small dick assholes block your ports of entry, as created by 1988 Conservative government.

    From the BBC:

This law outlines four possible scenarios:

    Espionage or sabotage
    Foreign-influenced activities
Threats or use of acts of serious violence for political, religious or ideological objectives
Covert, unlawful acts intended to undermine or overthrow the constitutionally established government

It is so far unclear which scenario Mr Trudeau would rely on to justify the use of the Emergency Act - none of these four scenarios have been clearly present in Ontario.

I mean I realize the BBC is also a right wing nonsense rag but they also seem to agree that the invoking of this act is an overreach to the situation. But I'll listen to the trolls and serfs on Beyond, they're right I am sure. I love that this is making him a further laughing stock to the world. It's almost like he's still just not ready. Seize all the bank accounts, assets and everything else you want to Mr. Dictator-Light, let Canada burn. It's ultimately the best thing that could happen to our broken political system if it did.

I have an ignore list of one, and it's them. Literally the most unintelligent drivel I'd ever seen, almost makes me want to know what they've been spouting the past week. Almost.

Very reasonable and reasoned response at Coutts.

Foreign funding is a-ok on every other protest, not the right litmus test.

And one cache of nutjobs isn't a national threat of violence or a threat to the gov't. Arresting those people is the right response and, the only one needed.

I hope you're calling for the Emergencies Act to be invoked next time BLM kicks off if these are the minimal criteria you feel should warrant the measures they're going to take in the next little while, especially with the unused avenues that were still available. But I bet that the foreign funding of the "correct" protests or any violence won't be an issue at all.

It's being used punitively and to make an example out of people who dare engage in wrong think. Donate a few dollars to a cause you might agree with in part? We'll seize your money and bank accounts. Don't want to willingly aid the government? We'll force you to under threat of a prison term. Somehow the Ambassador Bridge was cleared out and opened without the Act, the RCMP was able to investigate and arrest people at Coutts without the Act; but a few dozen trucks and a weekly rave in Ottawa needs an unprecedented act invoke, an act whose predecessor was only used during two world wars and the October Crisis. What was stopping them from getting an injunction for the Ottawa group? It was pretty easy to get and use when a city actually bothered to apply for it.

    Governing is about hypocrisy.

Foreign funding that supercharge real estate market is fine. Cost the economy $500M/day is not. That's the litmus test.

Liberals wants to do nothing for this to go away. CPC want it to burn to get a reaction and finally got one.

Both sides are just playing a game to shore up their core support. Nobody cares about the health and economy of the people.

Agreed. I'm still reeling at the whole Emergency Act/FINTRAC response.
