probably because the semi-reasonable people there realized the dick heads that were getting involved weren't worth being associated with lol
It was that on top of the threat of freezing their bank accounts and cancelling their insurance that made them decide to cut their losses.

tell me any other protest with $4m+ of foreign funding with intent to interfere with politics
Didn't it just come out that BLM created a charity in Canada to get money from BLM Global to go buy a ~$6m mansion? There was certainly foreign influence in the Keystone XL protests and other environmental pushes over the years. And I think there was even a Liberal minister who was fundraising in the US to fund his re-election?

same as the vaccine, it only matters when it effects them personally, they don't mind fucking up society until they have selfish reasons for their decisions.

Going after people livelihoods is pretty effective. Are we going to make that a permanent tactic for infrastructure protests now? Seems like it could come in really handy.

I hope you're calling for the Emergencies Act to be invoked next time BLM kicks off if these are the minimal criteria you feel should warrant the measures they're going to take in the next little while, especially with the unused avenues that were still available. But I bet that the foreign funding of the "correct" protests or any violence won't be an issue at all.

It's being used punitively and to make an example out of people who dare engage in wrong think. Donate a few dollars to a cause you might agree with in part? We'll seize your money and bank accounts. Don't want to willingly aid the government? We'll force you to under threat of a prison term. Somehow the Ambassador Bridge was cleared out and opened without the Act, the RCMP was able to investigate and arrest people at Coutts without the Act; but a few dozen trucks and a weekly rave in Ottawa needs an unprecedented act invoke, an act whose predecessor was only used during two world wars and the October Crisis. What was stopping them from getting an injunction for the Ottawa group? It was pretty easy to get and use when a city actually bothered to apply for it.

If BLM is essentially occupying and the local police refuse to do their job, then sure. It's pretty clear that the Ottawa police have no intent or wherewithal to actually do anything in Ottawa, so how would you have liked Trudeau to have moved forward? An injunction that they wouldn't have enforced? RCMP have no jurisdiction in Ottawa until this act was activated..

None of those were trying to overthrow an elected government. The environmental funding was 2% of the total. Not 65+%

You are morally and ethically a cum dumpster.

The terrorists had no problem robbing all of Canada of its livelyhood.

$500 million per day. It's the least they can do to pay it back.

Now this is going to get off-topic, but that sounds wrong. I thought that RCMP would defer to city cops more because of funding than any jurisdiction issue. Like they don't get paid extra to police inside the city, but they had full jurisdiction there. We got law enforcement peeps on here, how does that work?

Good question, I'm probably wrong in my statement, but worth noting that RCMP have done nothing within Ottawa due to 'local' presence..

IIRC, they have provincial jurisdiction, but it's bad form to operate in a City that has its own police force (like Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary), without permission from that force. So they legally can operate there, but I think it causes a huge headache/paperwork/friction if they don't get express approval ahead of time.

yeah i think that's true, they do have the authority, but they left it to ottawa to actually enforce anything any less than an emergency situation.

Sorry to circle back to this but as a responsible gun owner, and hunter. This is unacceptable. Idiots like these give all gun owners a bad name. Just like how these 11 idiots have further tainted whatever credibility these protesters had.

    Own a gun… don’t bring to a protest
Bring it to the hunt, from the hunt. To the range, from the range. To the quarry, from the quarry. Its rocket science to some of these people. But at least they wont have to worry about that problem anymore. They are never owning a gun again.

""While anti-Alberta energy campaigns may have played a role in the cancellation of some oil and gas developments, I am not in a position to find that these campaigns alone caused project delays or cancellations," Allan wrote in the report."

So you know, one level of foreign funding actually caused an impact to the countries GDP, while the other was a talking piece from Kenney..

I have an ignore list of one, and it's them. Literally the most unintelligent drivel I'd ever seen, almost makes me want to know what they've been spouting the past week. Almost.
They are like a broken bot, it’s weird. They are hell bent on repeating things that even they know are demonstrably false. On some level I feel obligated to correct misinformation because people might believe it if it just sits out there unchallenged, but I gave up on that long ago. Toma was way more mature mentally so I disagree with the theory that it’s him. Anyway, you aren’t missing anything, just did the same.

Was SJW fucking JT's dad on stream? That's covered by emergency act.

If we are talking about impacting GDP how about making the country an uninvestable shithole due to bank accounts being able to be frozen on a whim

This was my trucker friend’s response. They are pretty unmoved by this development. A lot have lost everything and don’t even care about a $100k fine at this point. Some aren’t cross border drivers but their contracts were yanked anyway because the new policy just made them standardize their own and require it. They’re also getting raped by the carbon tax, so they see it as a pretty hopeless future.
