Didn't it just come out that BLM created a charity in Canada to get money from BLM Global to go buy a ~$6m mansion? There was certainly foreign influence in the Keystone XL protests and other environmental pushes over the years. And I think there was even a Liberal minister who was fundraising in the US to fund his re-election?

I hope you're calling for the Emergencies Act to be invoked next time BLM kicks off if these are the minimal criteria you feel should warrant the measures they're going to take in the next little while, especially with the unused avenues that were still available. But I bet that the foreign funding of the "correct" protests or any violence won't be an issue at all.

What was stopping them from getting an injunction for the Ottawa group? It was pretty easy to get and use when a city actually bothered to apply for it.

If BLM is essentially occupying and the local police refuse to do their job, then sure. It's pretty clear that the Ottawa police have no intent or wherewithal to actually do anything in Ottawa, so how would you have liked Trudeau to have moved forward? An injunction that they wouldn't have enforced? RCMP have no jurisdiction in Ottawa until this act was activated..

Like they don't get paid extra to police inside the city, but they had full jurisdiction there. We got law enforcement peeps on here, how does that work?

IIRC, they have provincial jurisdiction, but it's bad form to operate in a City that has its own police force (like Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary), without permission from that force. So they legally can operate there, but I think it causes a huge headache/paperwork/friction if they don't get express approval ahead of time.

This was my trucker friend’s response. They are pretty unmoved by this development. A lot have lost everything and don’t even care about a $100k fine at this point. Some aren’t cross border drivers but their contracts were yanked anyway because the new policy just made them standardize their own and require it. They’re also getting raped by the carbon tax, so they see it as a pretty hopeless future.
