    Default Thoughts: Freedom Convoy 2022

Where's everyone at on this? How do you think it's gonna shake down in Ottawa?

why would this impact anything or create any change? Isn't this like the fourth or fifth one of these fucking things?

Not that I support any government actions anymore. Every level of government is incompetent and this pandemic has exposed that, but bunch honking isn't going to change anything.

If you can't decouple your message about freedom of choice from the guy who's traveling with you and painted "CoVid vaccine murdered my sister, 11/2021" on the side of his shitbox truck, then...
You get the govt response you deserve.

I think having 50,000 truckers heading to Ottawa is going to futher f*ck up the current supply chain issues.

The bigger question I have is why is anyone bothering to get tested for Covid anymore?
If you want restrictions and all of this to end, stop being part of the problem. Ignore the media, live your life, if you're sick stay home.

    Its not rocket appliance.

This about sums my feelings up. Too many whiny protests these days. I'm sad to say my cousin and his wife are fully on this convoy too.

I get why they are doing it. Truckers are needed to keep the flow of goods, and by restricting them, we hurt their livelihoods and ultimately, the lives of everyone who can't get the products they need on a daily basis. At the same time, truckers don't spend their time attending big spreader events or anything - they tend to live in their trucks and maybe visit diners and stuff. Relatively low-contact.

But with that said, it's a problem they made themselves so it's kinda hard to give a shit.

Popeye's is out of mac and cheese.

And why do they think going to Ottawa will change anything when the origin of this requirement is announced by US DHS in October?

    https://www.dhs.gov/news/2021/10/12/...-enter-us-land

Second, beginning in early January 2022, DHS will require that all inbound foreign national travelers crossing U.S. land or ferry POEs – whether for essential or non-essential reasons – be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide related proof of vaccination. This approach will provide ample time for essential travelers such as truckers, students, and healthcare workers to get vaccinated.
And here I am thinking Canada was so bold in enacting this alone.

How is the US saying they have a huge trucker shortage, and Canada has enough truckers available for a convoy? Are these truckers that are out of work, taking time off, how's this work?
Either way I'm impressed by the backing this seems to have.

    ... Its not little either.

Line of trucks headed through Airdrie yesterday was ~70km long and growing by the minute.
    Gofundme is >$4million
Facebook page has almost 400,000 people.

I still don't think any of this matters though.

it's bullshit, all other "essential" industries have been told to vaccinate or GTFO... but now that it's impacting some of their industry, it's time to "stand up"...

The hilarious thing is they actually think they have popular support which is completely not the case. The polls are quite clear the public opinion is very much against the whole I don't want to get vaccinated wingnuts. They also did wonder for themselves by protesting hospitals and generally welcoming the dregs of society. As far as I am concerned if you don't want to get vaccinated I say good for you I hope your employer shows you the door.

AHS turtled on theirs and that's literally the largest employer in Alberta. I mean, why should the people giving care in a hospital be required to vaccinate? LoL.
I heard Shell Scotford is bailing on theirs, as well.

I'm just sayin... I predominantly support the rights of employers to force compliance.

I'm anti-anti. But I'm also anti-government now, so, I don't know where that leave me.
