The truckers and probably the organizers who ended up in jail, appear to be complete idiots. But that's not really the point. As far as I can tell the point is four-fold
    1) they had legitimate reasonable grievances about government actions. (specifically restriction on travel, employment and mandates for medical procedures)
    2) they were unable to get any meeting / discussion / engagement about those grievances
    3) the protests didn't appear to be any more egregious or dangerous than other recent ones which appear to have been handled much more lightly
    4) after the arrests, the application of justice has had the APPEARANCE of being politically controlled. (this may not turn out to be true, but that's the perception)

I feel like I shouldn't need to mention that I got all my vax as soon as I was eligible, and I was a supporter of early mitigation measures by the government. I have not taken part in any protest or supported those who do. But even I think things have gone a bit fishy, and the government is kind of proving the protesters points for them.

Chapters-Indigo apparently refuses to put a book about the trucker convoy on the shelves (according to National Post.)

The Freedom Convoy: The Inside Story of Three Weeks that Shook the World by Andrew Lawton. Sounds like Lawton is sympathetic to the protestors and critical of the government response.

Chapters-Indigo has no problem selling books by Karl Marx and Saul Alinsky.

What's interesting about these outcomes is that people are surprised that this has occurred. Canada is a shithole country.

    That's an... interesting comparison.

Two of the most influential and brilliant minds in all of human history and... Andrew Lawton.

It's quite simple, if they wouldn't have broken laws and "peacefully" protested within their "freedom" and legal rights, nobody would even care that they were there. I'd still think they're idiots, but I wouldn't care about them yelling at the clouds.

I also think it's quite simple - when they blocked all those railroad tracks and set traditional pallet fires on those tracks was when they went too far. I'm glad they got arrested.

I also agree all groups should "protest" legally, i never said what was done by other groups was acceptable.

TIL, tanks need to roll on any illegal protests in the name of fairness, no exceptions.

TIL, Government should be allowed to decide who can "break the law" without consequence and who cannot based purely on the Government's own comfort level with the social issue/participants involved.

Well, yeah. You just need to look at the AB border blockade for even more evidence of that. The UCP created a very specific law against blocking critical infrastructure, and then completely failed to utilize it.

That was fucked also, although it may have been a federal matter because borders are federal? Although the highway leading to it is provincial. That one did have some serious charges laid I think, or more serious allegations. Attempted murder maybe?

I am a big supporter of throwing way more people in jail for way way longer.

We should however be consistent in how we determine who goes to jail.

More people in jail is one place I am happy to levy my tax dollars.

Was proven to be bullshit, the "weapons cache" found was on a property separate from where the supposed "plot" was happening.

The "weapons cache" iirc was a bunch of long guns some yokels owned.

No different then the antifa type setting off fireworks in the condo building entryway during the convoy and the msm saying it was the convoy. Just utter bullshittery
