I'm pretty sure I read that the powers were in place for the first 7 days when they first invoked it. And even if it was struck down it was still valid for that first period.

It's in place immediately, they must hold a debate/vote within the first 7 days to keep it active and extend it for 30 days.

oh boy the only one having an issue with this concept it you...

you still have the freedom to travel ... although that is not a protected freedom but a privilege, BTW a privilege that most Canadians cant afford. So do want to fight for the right to beach vacations... or go after the 1% for creating division of the Canadian people?
Freedom to assemble still intact ... the protest in Edmonton on the weekend proves that...
Freedom of religion ... last time i checked no religion has ever been banned... so that is still intact
The truckers tried to deny freedom of the press... so that is problem but not with the people you have a problem with
Freedom of choice.... that is still intact , i think most people confuse choice with consequence but we have always had consequence of our choices.

And there has always been limits on freedoms in Canada, the only thing lost is a little privilege which is temporary.

Yea that's how I understand it. So what happened between Monday night when they voted and today when they canceled it? Other than it getting to the senate...

it was invoked on the 14th, it was used to threaten several companies bank accounts and CVOR, which had drivers participating in the occupation, it worked to remove several trucks before the police started their hard push on the 17th, police had downtown basically cleared by sunday evening (also using the act to force towing companies to do their jobs)... therefore no more need for the act.

Also it's very likely that the threat of the EA is why the Coutts blockade decided to go home on the 15th



the house approved it on Monday, senate was due to vote on it today but he announced it'd be revoked before they voted.

i'm sure they're letting them camp out in the streets for 3 weeks and giving them hundreds of warnings before arresting a fraction of a percentage of them though, right?
