No that's so far north that the weather sucks. Barrie is already "too far north" to consider and this is north of that. You'd freeze your tits off there. Needs to be at least 100km south of that.

But then you get closer to Buffalo and Detroit and that breaks rule #1

I dunno, I'd have to ask our resident expert how to square that circle. I haven't found a resolution.

I don't know. Sarnia's average annual temperature is about 21C. That's pretty damn warm. You just have to take away the winters.

I also heard that if Quebec separates, that newfoundland property values will go up because it will be much closer to Ontario.

I've heard it's pretty decent there, aside from living in the shadow of several ancient refineries.

    Sarnia:

    - Very humid. Not Texas humid, but pretty fucking humid.
    - Usually doesn't get very cold, but the humidity is killer.
    - Shorter winters. Starts later, ends earlier.
    - Summer starts way earlier. Growing season starts much earlier.

It is however a shithole populated with inbred yokels.

I thought this was a financial thread, not a weather thread?

Something something people from Ontario are broke?

Yeah but look at the great government services they get in return.

Should mention that parts of Ontario get insane amounts of snow. Like ludicrous amounts.

I mean, I assume anyone from southern ontario that is moving to Calgary because their company has gone to permanent WFH is just stupid, but I didn't think the weather was the reason. Brad or Jordan can probably comment, but shouldn't.

There's going to be a lot of lawsuits coming out of that.

I was in Kirkland Lake a few years ago, snow started around 4pm and when I got up the next morning it was almost at the wing mirror of my rental car...mental

Houses there are cheap now since the sawmill shut down and there's no industry anymore

What a dump. Is that bathtub made of wood? Are we peasants bathing in a barrel now?

Remember the 'Don't be poor' part. That wouldn't be your primary residence. It's your cottage. You aren't spending winters up there like some working-class townie.

No one would choose to live in Sarnia...they are there for a well paying job. Same as said about Alberta
Yes that's similar to what my thoughts were on it. It reminds me of Fort Mcmurray, it's just a dump work town. However it's on water, has much better weather, has access to the states, etc. So it was a simple choice between there and Alberta.
