I dont deal with our bills, but wife is sure bitching up a storm. That'll teach her to say she's cold and tell me to turn it up, its not like it's her bday or something...

It’s hilarious that people are bitching about their bills being doubled when their usage doubled. Fixed rate doesn’t mean fixed usage. But it’s the UCPs fault.

It’s not like the UCP is doing a stellar job, but the more stupid pass the buck rhetoric gets thrown around, the less meaningful it becomes. I guess they don’t understand that either haha.

Barely noticed a change tbh. I think it's gone up $40 for all utilities total since November.

Usage didn't double over last year, it's very similar.
We used 3400kwh this month and same last year (within 5%) (rigs and equipment kept indoors, heated)

This is BY far the highest bill we have seen.

Even gas was up from $1 per gj a few years ago to $5/GJ. Something they flare to get rid of.

My bill is usually high for this time of the year but this year is even higher. My actual usage is on par for the month so it's definitely the energy price and stupid carbon tax. It's about 100 bucks difference. It's like gas for my car. I fill up when the tank is empty. I pay when the bill comes. There isn't much that I can do about it at this point. I guess I can protest in front of the city hall?

Why doesn’t everybody go on a budget plan? My gas and power bills are the exact same every month, for a year at a time.

Yup. Cold days with little sunshine. Most energy usage :surprised_pikachu_face:

Dec was also a record cold month. Calgary hasn’t hit below -32C in a decade while we had multiple days well below that this year.

Gas went from $2-3/GJ to $4-5, electricity went from $0.06/kWh to $10. There's gonna be a lot of hurt.

Still using less electricity than summer cooling season. I personally blame Rachel Notley.

Holy those bills. I’m outraged if I pay over $200 for gas and power combined.

You forgot about the ones who don't realize their furnace needs electricity too

Energy use is directly correlated to standard of living. Buster wins.
