Default Dual Monitors vs. Ultra Wide Curved Monitor

I'm currently using 2 24" monitors for work and was wondering if it's worth going to a ultra wide curved monitor as some people said it's better for the eyes?

I know the 34" isn't a bad price but once you get past that you might as well just go for the 49" which isn't cheap. What's your thoughts? Should I continue with my current setup or fork out the money and go for the 49" curved monitor?

On a side note I do run multiple applications at all times and occasionally even use my laptop as a third screen.

I personally think dual is a better solution for most people. If you break one, you can replace them individually, and still operate in the meantime. Plus it's more of a "standard" setup, which is something I'm really seeing the value in these days.

What kind of work do you do? Data, browswer type applications etc?
Is it a work laptop, are you allowed to install applications?

I work with a ton of data and have compare stuff on different applications, dos, bespoke and browser.
I bought two monitors. The work laptop does not reconise a third and I had to run a cheap doc to connect. The laptop only had 1 HDMI port.
Two montiors was great. I could just about put two applications on one screen. But again depending on the application not all resize. Access does not, so that takes up the whole screen(with three tabs) on one monitor. I run two applications on the second. Plus email, teams, browsers with multiple tabs as popups.

I got a 49'. It takes a while to get used to. I run three applications side by side. I can compare stuff with a bit more ease. I still need to pop up email, teams and browsers. But for the intense data stuff I do on mutiple applications. It does help.

Edit: Here is a thread that might help: https://forums.beyond.ca/threads/415...hlight=Monitor

IMO. I would go with the 49". I used to run 3 24" monitors for trading, went to one large screen. It is quite easy to snap an application into a 1/4 of the screen and therefore the large screen acts as 4 monitors, plus I use the laptop / surface as a reading screen.

Does one need a fancier GPU or some other component to be able to run a monitor bigger than a TV from 10 years ago?

Our new genius Remote Desktop platform doesn’t support second screens. So that’s fun.

1 or 2 4K monitors should be doable by any computer. More than that you might need a real GPU.

My life hack, my dual monitor I position it like a wide "V".
Reduces overall eye travel across and it's cheap.

Single screen can give you the real estate but you'll need FancyZones from PowerToys (or Windows 11 which function is now native) to set up zones to snap windows into to mimic multi screen.

I used to have a 34" curve but now I'm on a 48" 4K flat and set up 2x 1080p zones and 1x 1920*2160 for vertical scroll all while my laptop's screen is where all the communication tools lives. Running single HDMI cable is also the perks.

    Windows RDP worked fine before.

They instead decided to stuff RDP inside VMware horizon and it’s useless

I assume he's going for vertical stack. I can't imagine neck strain on 2*34 Horizontally, let alone 3.

no...I have like a surround view going on. I'll take a pic - good excuse to clean my desk up. I don't like stacked since I don't like looking up.

2x 27" as my main monitors and a 13" Surface Pro as my third "email" screen.

I run everything through a docking station.

Work provided 2 24" flat screens and a laptop. I use one screen for my AutoCad drawing, the other large screen for all the sub menus, and the laptop screen for email, teams, etc.

i had 2x 32" 4K monitors hated how much space they took up so I replaced it with one 38" ultra-wide Dell with USB C. The extra height of a 38" over 34" was worth it

I had 2 24" monitors, switched to a 34" UW with a pretty good curve to reduce eye strain. Was a bit to get used too, but now that I am, I wish I got a 38" or 42" instead.
I split my monitor 3:1 (CAD : Drawings), it would be nice to have more room to read drawings without adjusting CAD size.

The monitor itself took a bit of room on my desk, but a monitor arm fixed that!
