It's because of those dirty east coasters heating thier houses with diesel. Plus drilling rigs and logging camps burning a shit load of it.

Don’t they also have to add a detergent or something in the winter to prevent gel’ling. I’m assuming nothing is free

No, they use butane that would normally have zero value to them, then charge more for the fuel which gets significantly worse mileage!

*Unless you were talking about diesel... I can't recall what magic juice raises its cloud point... Why can't I remember?!?

1.83/regular here the other day. I didn't even look at what 91 oct cost me. That was a painful fill.
1.87 today there https://bc.ctvnews.ca/metro-vancouve...gain-1.5802273. Predicted to jump another .07 within a week so yeah $2.00 will be there in no time.

Not to hijack but how many of you guys fill up at costco? I was there last night so i figured it might as well fill and the line took almost 30 minutes and the jack ass in front of me felt he was special so instead of alternating with the other cars coming in the other ways he pushed through after the guy in front of him went. I drive a truck with 136 liter tank and the $12 ish dollars i saved was not worth the time/aggravation at all, imagine doing all that to save $6.00 in a car lol

Never go to Costco for gas.

It's a line up of people whose time is not valuable.

I don't get it either. 30 minutes to wait in line to save 5-10 bucks minus the fuel you may burn while idling.

It was €2.15/L in the Netherlands last week. Coming back to $1.65/L for premium was nice to see. I don't know how uber drivers make money over there.

My wife is up earlier than me to go to work. (I still WFH..)

When she leaves at 6-6:15 I am already up and cruise to Costco for short lines and almost no waiting.

Get there early and there are usually no lineups.

The key is to work by Costco and fill up while getting a morning coffee (~9:30). Haven't had to wait in line in quite some time.

Right. Or costco closes at 8pm but the gas bar closes at 930. There's never anyone there at 9:15.

The most I’ve waited for Costco gas was 11 mins on a Saturday at 6pm.

If you happen to drive past a Costco gas bar regularly and there is a short line is MIGHT be worthwhile. If you are going out of your way or at peak times, its NEVER worth your time.
