Default Home Office Lighting and Setup

What kind of lighting is best for a home office setup? I live in a condo and only one south-facing window, so I don't get much sun until 10ish. That'll change in the summer but for the other three seasons, what lighting setup has worked for you all that doesn't ruin your eyesight?

My place is too dark and I can't easily put a ceiling light so it'll be a combo of flood/floor lamps. Do I want the light to 'come down' or reflected off the walls?

If you have enough monitors who needs light

I've just started considering lighting but only insofar as looking better (but TPiM - you couldn't possibly look any better) on webcam.
Right now I feel like The Phantom of the Opera because my window bleaches me out on one side and it's dark on the other.
I'm thinking about a "ring light" or some other option to deal with this.

I would not be concerned about much else for lighting unless you're an artist.

I didn't want the onlyfans look in my work meetings so I ended up getting one of these to sit on top of my monitor. Gives just enough light for me to look decent in Teams meetings.

For natural light help, if you can add a mirror on the wall opposite to the window it'll help brighten up the room more even when it's not full sun.

For office space that is mostly computer work I'd say you want lights that shine upwards and spread in the room. Most of ikea's floor standing lamps would suffice. If you do drawings or read documentation then add a secondary reading light on your desk that shines downwards onto your workspace.

Thanks for that suggestion. Its video indicates that it's "tailored for business man" so that gives me a lot more confidence. But at the end of the day, it's a desk lamp pointed at the desk. Are you sure it made a difference to your appearance on Teams?
I think I'm looking for a Diet Coke version of OnlyFans lighting.

This looks like it would hurt to insert, though...

Absolutely, even with three screens pointed towards my face my Teams meetings had that grainy, boosted look. That's gone now after this light. There's different brightness settings and the light sits in a claw/hotdog type of mount so you can rotate it more towards your face if you want. Has the benefit of not having a light shining straight into your eyeballs.

This. Floor lamp firing upward is the way to go.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

The new Wyze cams are great in low light conditions now.
    Shouldn't have an issue.
