I work in tech strategy. It depends how you define results.

It’s pretty crazy how different the landscape in Calgary is than some other parts of Canada or the US. Pretty much all companies in Toronto have adopted a hybrid model (if not fully remote).

Actually had a friend (in Toronto) who interviewed for a Calgary-based fintech who requested he relocate to Calgary for the position. Which was surprising given that I would assume eventually the said fintech would want greater presence in the east.

Most majors are doing hybrid, if only just temporary to let people ease back in. A lot are doing the wait and see approach to see how bad this gets after everything fully opens and people are jam back into public transits and such.

But Toronto's willingness for hiring remote work is due to sizable talent pool leaving GTA due to insane real estate prices. So in that sense, Halifax and Calgary benefits.

No, no, no, high productivity means you are too valuable to be promoted.
If I get promoted, I work in middle management, and I can't see a bigger downside. No thanks!

It costs money and time to have a corporate presence in different provinces.

You should try leaving your basement. Downtown has been busy for the past month.

March 28 is our return to office date as communicated yesterday. Hybrid allowed (up to 2 days per week at home).

Car traffic, sure. I was thru +15 last week and it was quite dead. New Bankers Sunterra was nice tho. Can't wait to see what traffic will be like when EVERYONE is back.

"Everyone" will be represented by a different number of people from this point forward, so probably not as bad as it was with the late 2019 version of everyone.

See, I was surprised by the traffic getting into the core vs how many people are in +15 at lunch time last week. I bet when most people are forced back into office, most won't take public transit. I know my sister definitely won't and she had been doing transit for over 2 decades. Let's hope gas goes over $2 to incentivize more people to get on bus/train.

While I believe that number, BVS and area during lunch is pretty busy (reminded me of close to pre-pandemic)
