We've been back in the office for a little while now and I still think its bullshit. Commuting blows, dressing up sucks (not like I'm any good at that anyways) and the small talk is annoying. At least when I leave for the day its done and I am less likely to "just do one more thing quick" because there is a more definite end to the day.

That being said, I am thankful my employer is pretty flexible because we've had some sick kids and contractors working on the house and it hasn't been a big deal to work from home from time to time.

I think it's great. I think a healthy balance of maybe 1 wfh day a week or every other week would be ideal but seeing everyone, the conversations, and the after work beers beat wfh by a lot

Some people I have heard, go to doctor appointments, then wfh rest of afternoon, only to be reprimanded that they're expected to return to the office as soon as possible after the appointment.

Bump. Any more return to office updates? My company (global) is upping the "recommendation" to show up more, but not making it mandatory yet.

We have flexibility but the base expectation is to be in the office 5 days a week.

I thought a lot were moving to a hybrid with 2 days WFH and 3 days in the office.
we are 2 days WFH and 3 days office although management and some departments are expected to be in the office every day, I personally like being in the office

We also recently ended 100% WFH, it's hybrid now but with 1 day min in office per week.

I expect this to be slowly dial back depends on the jobs and talent pool. I expect WFH will continue to be a carrot for sectors that have staff shortage.

    We're 100% hybrid (if that's a thing) here now.

I can do 100% of my work from home. I only go into the office once a week for the occasional customer meeting. No one seems to notice.

The expectation is we're in the office at least 3days a week BUT it depends on your position within the company and supervisor approvals/expectations. I've been in the office and see MAYBE 1 other person there so I just bugger off home at lunch and finish up.

We're 40% WFH and 60% in the office, and you can split it however you like (daily/weekly/monthly/yearly). Most people do 2 WFH and 3 office days per week. I do 2.5 hrs WFH and 4.5 hrs in the office per day and it's a serious boost to my quality of life. Sometimes I do the 2.5 in the morning, sometimes end of day, and even sometimes do 1.25 hrs at each end.

Tech is laying off mad but there is also still kind of a shortage. I don't think it has balanced out enough for employers to dictate back to office work yet anyway.

    Also:
    https://remote.com/blog/why-you-shou...ing-async-work

Don't know how this will fly but seems to be a new(?) work flow to embrace. Like if I get something done on time, why would I care if you work 8-5 or 5-8?

I understand a lot of operational tasks doesn't fall in this but some workload will.

Want to know why? Because people can't actually function properly from 5pm to 8am. And those retarded work assignments in those moronic "async" diagrams only work if you never have to actually contact somebody else for more information.

It's not like this shit hasn't been tried before. Do you think companies actually want to pay for office space and furniture?

Considering the amount of garbage Apple, Microsoft and Google are spewing out these days, the effects are starting to be known. Like fuck, the only real differences between the iPhone 12, 13 and 14 are colours. And iOS is shittier and shittier. Ever notice that you can't cancel an incoming call from the lock screen? And that if you unlock the screen, you still can't?

I marked myself as "open to work" in linkedin, and got about 3 recruiter calls a day. Not even actively working, just willing to chat. There's a serious shortage in tech, or at least what I do, in tech.
