Default Civil disagreements - How reasonable are your enemies on beyond?

Forums are all about disagreements and arguments. We all know there's a few guys that just aren't reasonable to debate.

Simple poll, on average, out of people who disagree with you here, what fraction are reasonable and worthy of debate?

Exact numbers can be put in posts. Poll deliberately very simple.

    Poll should be made public.

The problem with most people in society is they are unable to separate their emotional attachment and personal bias from their argument.

I personally believe we should all be open to sharing ideas and beliefs to strengthen our own position on a topic. But people are so entrenched in their position it turns to fighting and emotional outbursts.

I finally used the ignore feature on someone. Most people I tolerate, there's been a new special case lately which it hurts my head to read their posts.

I agree with the particular "new special case" reference. Regarding another resident coin swallowing nutjob I prefer to manually filter the posts. The problem isn't this ones consumption & repost of media, but rather their own comprehension of it. For that, all anyone can do is pray.

It's pretty quick and easy to identify those that have an intelligent thought, even if not necessarily agreed with, versus those that have no real world assessment abilities and work strictly off of emotion or simply know of no other way than towing the proverbial party line opinions that they were taught rather than formed with life experience.

Indeed. I enjoy well thought out positions, no matter what angle it is coming from...mostly

It hasn't been worth any effort debating the real world with the handful of know-it-alls who have never met a fact they didn't already know. And we all know who they are. So the desire make articulate points has disappeared for me some time ago. I'm surprised Buster maintains the energy to bother anymore haha, he's a better man than me.

Outside of them, and the trolls, there's still a lot of good discussion to read.

I would have said less than half based on responses to posts, and the typical "everyone patting each other on the back" confirmation bias we see in postings. But going by private messages and reputation comments, I see the reasonable people are equal or greater in number, but have chosen to stop arguing with the "usual suspects" of bullies here.

    Depends on idealogy.

I find the disagreements I have with those who are on similiar ideological lines are usually reasonable.

But its almost impossible to have a discussion with other people on here, as their worldview is so warped. Without a somewhat objective basis to have a conversation grounded in, might as well be speaking different languages.
