Great to hear it's finally nearing completion. I do wonder if this will drive NG prices up locally as it creates a much needed export market? Probably good for province revenue but I do wonder how much impact it'll have on our home heating prices.

Short term not much, pipe might be done soon, but export plant not operational until 2025 likely.

Also, Canada can produce way more methane than we do, actually pretty easily. So price will be capped somewhat by that.

I've been told Baker Hughes will be taking care of the LMS100 turbine units up there...

    Good fucking luck to them

And they're going to have a hell of a time operating the place once it's ready. They have no plans for camp facility for workers. They're trying to convince families to move to the middle of nowhere with no opportunities for their children, and no way out a lot of the time. Only people I know that have gone there so far, are the completely incompetent people from the plants here in Alberta.

They were offering utterly crap wages too, especially for remote BC

I know someone who was offered a permanent millwright position and the wage was something like $110,000 a year for 60 hours a week

if you're remotely outdoorsy, kitimat/terrace is dope. incredible fishing/hunting/skiing/sledding/etc, however, its super blue collar so i could see it being a hard sell for anyone with a family. House prices have sky rocketed w/ the pipeline/plant.

It'll be staffed, that won't be an issue with startup or operation. People who don't go will have reasons.

    Yep...

My cousin lives in Terrace and is truly an outdoorsy type person. Absolutely love it there. Been there for 20 years or more.

And if you think Kitimat is bad...look at where they are proposing to put the floating one by Prince Rupert...

That's the thing, they're literally creating a housing crisis there. Even if they manage to find the super outdoorsy single people willing to go live the Alaskan bush man lifestyle, those people still have to purchase million dollar property on a sub 150k/yr income.

They tried poaching me a few times, I told them to let me know when they're offering flights.
