    Default Treadmill

I bought a cheap treadmill from kijiji within the last year to figure out if I can work out from home or will use it as a coat hanger. Turns out, I used it to run. Current unit works but overheats (I’m 190lbs) and doesn’t like it over 6-7km. I hate paying for service calls or thinking about DIY.

What’s the best treadmill option out there for home workouts while balancing cost/ warranty space? It needs to stand runs of up to 15km.

Life Fitness used to be a pretty good brand but I'm not sure how it is these days. They used to supply commercial products to gyms and were very robust. I've got a Life Fitness elliptical trainer that has been used at roughly 10 times a week for the past 12 years and it's still going strong.

We got a Nordic track treadmill from Canadian tire 7-8 years ago, frequent use that entire time and it still operates as new. We even disassembled it for a move and hasn’t skipped a beat. They go on sale for like 40% off a couple times every year.

Just for grins, try lubing the belt. Yeah, it's DIY but fairly simple. Youtube should have some instructions.

I just did a Treadmill circuit board repair for a buddy. Taking it apart was a pain, finding the parts was a pain, got it fixed and reassembled it was working fine.
20 minutes later he called, poof. Blew up again. I'm done.

we have a Northern Lights TD-195 that we bought from Fitness Depot 4-5 years ago, still running strong and we may use it about 4-5x a week but it's only about 2-3 miles of run at low-medium intensity so not sure how well it would fare with your needs.
but we bought it with extended warranty (expired now) in case anything would have happened.

I have a Nordic Track Commercial C1750 - Direct from Nordic Track. My third treadmill after a LifeFitness, and a Livestrong something from Canadian Tire.
It has been quite durable, gets about 100km/wk on it. Belt gets hot after for runs over 20k, but they all do....the iFit subscriptions are annoying, but my wife likes the running routes. Incline and decline and pretty quiet.

    Over heats.
Can you clean around the motor so it gets more airflow?
How do you know it overheats? Smells or the thing turns off?

I just checked, that’s the same one we have. I never subscribed to ifit, both of us prefer music or tv of some type.

How much do people typically spend on a new treadmill? $2500?

I'm not an avid runner, but have purchased one about a year ago and have put just under 600km on it. I purchased a Horizon 7.0 AT. So far it is still working fine and I didn't manage to break it yet after lubing the belt twice. It was (and still "on sale") at 1599. For the price, the advertised CHP and belt width and length is ok. The roller size (front and back) are different, but I think it is on the smaller size. No fancy features. It does have bluetooth for speed broadcast (so works with Zwift), but not sure about the accuracy of the speed as my running foot pod's broadcast pace is about 10% slower. I am a lighter person (<60kg) so probably put a lot less strain on the treadmill. And my runs are usually around 10k / 1hr or so. I have done a few runs around 90 minutes. Longest distance i've done on it is 16.1 km (foot pod pace, but 11 miles indicated on the treadmill).

Treadmill from Sole seems to be more popular and more recommended than Horizon.

I’m sure we paid less than that by at least $700.

Wow. The last time I was in that store, $2,300 was the price of a children's winter jacket. I was not in there long enough to notice if they sold treadmills.

Sporting Life has awful pricing, generally speaking, but their end of season sales can be really good. Got a Patagonia down snowsuit for my toddler for like 70% off a while back.

Kids outdoor wear = Outdoor Warehouse sales.
    Can't beat it.
But I also don't have kids so what do I know.
