What's with this shit costing so much. It's just plastic sheet. wtf.
Cheapest quote I got was $1500 for a front wrap and some accessories from KimBros.
Any recommendations?

Kimbros have done multiple cars for me now, I would recommend them both on price and quality.
Most places will sell you the wrap, its pretty cheap...then you can do it yourself and save
Ya. They did the wife's bmw last year and was cheaper by $400, but no issues and has stood up well. Can't tell its there. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Its mainly all the labour involved and skill to do it. Case in point, when I purchased my car new, dealer threw in 3M free, okay dont have to pay for it, alright but dealer monkeys arent trained properly to do this kind of thing, so it looks like shiet.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
Agreed to some extent, but $400 an hour to squeegee on plastic? Seems excessive. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Got mine done at AutoProtectors

They were awesome, best price I could find at the time and good quality stuff. Reviews are pretty awesome too. They were doing some high end rides there when I last went
As someone who did my truck myself, its worth it. That stuff sucks to work with and my truck actually looks pretty awful in some spots. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I found with PPF you do get what you pay for with labor and making sure it's done properly. Of course different places will exclusively use different films and that may factor into the cost as well.
I always took my cars to Darren at Thompson Graphics, he is now at Vehicle Protection Solutions and they use Suntek Film, so you could give them a call for a quote and see how they compare.

I agree, it is absolutely ridiculous. Same with the labor cost for applying ceramic coating. Helps explain the exotic car collections a lot of the shop owners haveThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I mean, the labor is at least partly skilled, and I sure wouldn't want some minimum-wage loser doing it ton my cars. Plus with all the prep it's a LOT of man-hours.
Good news though it's totally something you can DIY if you don't like shop rates.

for those crying about prices, why not DIY, Are they supposed to do it for free? lol
it's like comparing restaurant food price on ingredient cost only. Why pay one kitchen more to cook than others if you don't care I guess. There sure is difference on the quality of installation.
All it takes is a DIY’er to drop a piece on the ground or trap some dirt under the film and it’s ruined. It’ll most likely end up being as much as a shop if you mess up the install.
I use shadow tinting for all of my cars, decently priced and they’ll fix bubbling/peeling under warranty.
Agreed. Who needs prep work before ppf or ceramic, what a waste of money. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Haha, well typically the high price accounts for 90% of the installers time being allocated to prep work... that's not an assumption. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Government should just put a cap on what PPF installers are allowed to charge
