I filled out a new vehicle customer survey and won $1000. (w/pic proof)
tl;dr. I filled out a new vehicle customer experience survey after I got my Genesis and ended up winning $1000.
Dec. 27 I got an email in my inbox from someone claiming I had won $1000 thru a sweepstakes. It wasn't in my spam folder. I didn't even open it, I just deleted it and moved on.
Dec. 29 I get another email that was entitled "MaritzCX Canada Automobile Info PAPERWORK". I also went to delete this email but stopped short of doing so. I opened it and it was personalized to me by name in the message body. It went on to say that I had won a secondary prize of $1000 thru the 2021 MaritzCX Canada Automobile Survey Sweepstakes.
There were two attachments in the email. An affidavit I had to fill out and a skill testing question.
I was like ........ wtf is this? I decided to dig into it a bit.
#1 Ok, what even is MaritzCX? I did a google search it is some customer experience data analysis company. I saw some folks also mentioning it on a tesla forum thread seeing if it was legit. Turns out MaritzCX was bought by InMoment, another customer experience company.
#2 What's the connection between them and me? I started to think about any surveys I had filled out. I remember filling out some, but for a car? Had to be my Genesis and it was done online. That survey had long been deleted. HOWEVER, I had another survey in my inbox from Genesis over a recent maintenance experience. I opened that email and just looked it over to see if it mentioned InMoment or MartizCX anywhere. Sure enough, at the bottom it mentions Genesis is working with InMoment for their customer satisfaction surveys. At this point I have some decent evidence for it being legit.
#3 Who emailed me saying I won? The email claiming I won a prize came from a woman within a company called Innovative Processing, Inc. A google search of that shows it's an independent party for fulfillment of stuff like contests based out of Minnesota. This woman had her phone number in the email so I did a reverse phone lookup which resulted in it matching the company and location.
At this point, I was like... alright I'm just going to call this number and see what happens.
Woman answers. (Gist of convo)
Me: Hi I'm looking for (insert name here).
Her: yes that me.
Me: Hi, this is (my name). I got an email from you this morning claiming I won some sort of contest... MaritzCX sweepstakes?
Her: Hold on a sec, let me just bring it up...... yes you won a $1000 secondary prize.
Me: Yah so I'm sure you can understand that sending an email saying I won a bunch of money is a little phishy.
Her: Yes, we get that a lot, but it is 100% legit.
Me: So I actually won something for real?
Her: Yah the MartizCX Canada sweepstakes. You would have been entered into the contest when you filled out a customer survey... looks like it was for a 2021 Genesis G80 3.5 Prestige?
Me: Yah! That's my car!
Her: Yah so when you filled that out online, you were automatically entered into the contest when you submitted it. I sent you some paperwork that needs to filled out. Don't forget the skill testing question due to Canadian law. It will take 8 to 10 weeks for the cheque to arrive.
Me: Ok I'll fill it out and send it back via email to you.
So, I filled out the affidavit. Name, address, phone number, age and employer (can't work for a sponsor of the contest). Did the BS skill testing question and sent it back and started waiting. Lol, 8 to 10 weeks... like c'mon. Nothing moves fast anymore.
I got the cheque today! $1000! Deposited it and I'm pretty happy! Pretty cool!
Looking around
Wondering what became
