Default In Wall Speakers, anything else to do when walls apart?

Maybe doing major reno where all walls getting stripped down to the studs. Ceiling staying intact for majority of house.

Would like to put in wall speakers. Sonos Architectural look great, but expensive.

Anyone do similar install lately? What speakers did you use, and why?

Should I install anything else when walls are apart?

Was thinking of running Cat5 but with mesh wifi not sure this is even worth it. Thoughts?

Cat5 or 6 to every room somewhere. Anywhere you might have a desktop computer or a home theatre run 2x Cat5 to that location.

    No comment on speakers.

Mesh wifi is trash. If you have the opportunity definitely run cables. Everywhere. As high of cat as is practical / you can afford.

Speaker cables for a full Dolby Atmos rough in would be good. Conduit from central location to tv for hidden install. Don’t forget coax hookups for subs.

Install a new furnace cable with like 8 conductors or whatever the max is.

If you are considering a central media location in a different spot than your hookups, make sure you have a coax cable and a fibre optic drop along with cat 6 so you can centralize your Telus/Shaw. Cat6 from here to every potential tv, wireless tv boxes suck.

Don’t get hung up about speakers right now, just make sure the cables are roughed in.

All about the cables. Cables everywhere.

Yes, run cables. Wifi mesh should be treated as a last resort.

Look into Klipsch in-wall speakers. Sonos are probably good, but IIRC they're not great bang/$.

I used klipshe in ceilings for my HT height channels. Good bang for buck

I went anti-baller and used Monoprice Caliber in-wall speakers for my fronts, and in-ceiling rears.
I was quite pleased with the quality, sounded much better than I expected.
I made sure I had lots of wire length, and loosely fastened them to a stud to make them easy to retrieve.

Agree with the others, CAT6 everywhere. Mesh won't perform. Wifi for portable devices/convenience, but wired if you can.
Laptops and phone on wifi, TV, media player etc. wired.

Same, I used the 3-way Calibers for the rear and side surrounds, I was shocked at how good they sounded for an in-wall speaker especially considering the price.
