Default 1980 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans Am

So myself and my 4 brothers have been tasked with moving and down sizing my 86 year old parents into an age in place senior's residence.

As a result, my Mom's 1980 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans Am is going to be sold - she custom ordered that car from the factory and it was one of three built in it's configurarion, hardtop in Solar Gold with the snowflake wheels.

110,000 original km and it's been maintained very well - turbocharged 4.9 liter small block V8 - we already have one potential buyer for this car but I thought I'd throw it up here to see if there's anyone looking for such a vehicle.

    PM me if interested.

Totally could be worth putting on Bring A Trailer, this thing would generate much interest.

I have a 455 in my garage waiting for a car, but it would be a shame to alter this time capsule.

PM me what price the other offer is though.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Get Sentry to turbocharge it. Closer to original. Haha

I wonder what could be done to the 301 to make it not a sub 200hp turd. Be cool to put a modern turbo on this like a Borg Warner EFR. They've come a long way in 50 years.

It’s probably 7.5:1 compression for starters. Probably need new heads to wake it up properly. (just a guess)

Nope, southern Alberta her whole life and High River since 84.

I just remember my parents keeping this a secret and then one Saturday mom and dad go to Lethbridge and she comes back driving her new Trans Am - it was pretty cool for a 44 year old stay at home mom at that time.

Hey now, she could just be a fan of Rocky or Smokey & the Bandit. Those movies were huge at the time.

That is wild. Totally get it cleaned up and go the BAT route to maximize exposure and $$.

Crazy. It'd be wild to see what this would fetch on BAT. 100% it would be the find of the week on Jalopnik and gets tons of exposure, lol

If you do put it anywhere like BAT, your friends at Beyond can make sure to hype it up.

Wow! what a cool car and backstory. Truly one of a kind. Given its low numbers, I wouldn't be surprised if it would fetch somewhere in the 40's on Bring A Trailer. These cars really have appreciated in the past 10 years, so few nice ones left. GLWS and I bet its hard to let go of within your family.
