Default Scrap pieces or cheap place to get small piece of aluminum?

I recently got a roof cargo rack and it didn't come with a front air deflector. I wasn't worried initially but with some of the windy days we've had recently I have some serious wind noise.

Anyone know a place where I can get a cheap piece of aluminum that I can try out? New wind deflectors are ridiculously priced, and I think it would be pretty easy to make my own instead. Needs to be about 1ft by 3ft, roughly. Any of the box stores have sheets, but they're $50 or more for a piece with the required dimensions. Thickness doesn't really matter, and I'm going to cover it with black paint so surface doesn't really matter either.

The rack is similar to the one below. If it didn't have the deflector, haha.

You may find this does not solve the wind noise issue. Aerodynamic drag is more complicated than that.

I'll let the Senior aerodynamic e-scientists chime in on that part.

But Metal Supermarket has a scrap bin with cheap prices. You'd have to go there and see. It's a bin right as you walk in. Usually a bunch of stuff. Sheets are various thicknesses and maybe even diamond plate style (baller!)

You would have to pay if you want it cut by them. I think that's where they make money off the scraps.

Metal supermarkets is a rip off.

Go to steel inc. They’re a small shop, but will have everything you need and will cut it for you. If you pay in cash, you can usually negotiate a better price.

Thanks guys. I'll check those places out.

I'm not expecting this to reduce the sound to nothing, but if it cuts it down to a manageable decibel for the occasional driving I do, I'll call it a win. That's also why I don't want to shell out for a full-price one without knowing the difference it would make.

Does this "Steel Inc" place have a website, or email, or any kind of internet presence? Or they still living in 1950?
