    Default Car Storage Calgary

Does anyone have any recommendations for long term car storage here in Calgary? Looking for something cost effective (not one of those luxury car vaults)? I have looked at regular storage companies, but I was hoping to hear some Beyond experiences for car storage.

Specialty Auto Storage In Dewinton is a good one, can pull your car in and out as needed and swap with another vehicle

Some people have space in secondary garages on their property.
Those can be cheaper and just as good depending if you are looking to wrench or not depends on the landlord.

Is it a low value vehicle or a collectable / exotic. Very different answers depending on that.

Just storing my 3 series as I got a new vehicle coming in that I'll be using. I'd say low-ish value (it's a 2010)

Outdoor storage at an RV lot. $40/mo. Keep comprehensive insurance on it.

    I have no availability.

I'm also unsure how long my current guy is sticking around but at $320/month, he can stay for as long as he likes.
    I like neat cars.

I store out at sentinel storage in spring bank. It’s a 10x20 and I like it as it’s my own unit and no one coming and going and I can also store all my extra rims and tires for summer there as well. It’s under $300 a month and works amazing

In my opinion, I think a self-storage unit is an excellent way to store a car if you are looking for long-term car storage or if there is not a good security system in your existing garage attached to your home. Self-storage units protect your car from the damage caused by insects, rodents, and the environment. Many people rent a storage unit to place their car because they have limited space on their property, lack security, or have a driveway that is not big enough for both a car and a large garage. The good news is that a self-storage facility can be an excellent location to keep a vehicle for a long time.

These bots are getting sophisticated. TIL that a self storage unit is a great place to store things like cars yourself, and why you might want to use one (hint: its because you dont have space on your own property)

Couple questions for people who do car storage. Specifically related to higher end climate controlled storage.

Is $250-350 approximately the going rate? Do people typically do month to month or sign up for annual parking? Discounts for annual?

Difficult to secure stalls? Like would people say they are difficult to secure in a given year?

What kind of access provisions do people have? Weeks notice? 24hr?

    Additional services usually included?

Was doing some musing around the concept and curious.

Personal opinion. Renting space for what we call car guys is annoying like a high maintenance gf. Even higher than renting to RV storing guys.

I now rent to a hoarder. She's paid up all the time and hasn't bothered me in 5 years.
Am I maximizing my value? No. But I literally do nothing but collect money into my account. I'll randomly check in on the place.
Downside is that I could be looking at a large dumpster bin when she moves on or quits.

Honestly don’t discount your own unit. I pay for a unit at spring bank and my truck has zero dust on it after sitting for 3 months. No mice issues and can take whenever for just over $300 per month and don’t have to share unit. Most of the car come and go have all rules posted for how they operate. My 2 cents. This will be my last year as garage Reno allows me for 4 vehicles now with raised ceiling.
