Default 2022 Canada's Newest Climate Plan Mega Rant Thread

Good God, government is beyond stupid here.
These are made up #s undoubtedly.
Get ready for the costs of a life time to start funnelling through to your utility bills.

The plan also promises a tougher schedule to shift Canadian vehicle sales to electric models, mandating one in five new passenger vehicles be battery-operated by 2026, 60 per cent by 2030 and 100 per cent by 2035.

The report forecasts that emissions from waste, including landfills, can be cut by 43 per cent by 2030, electricity by 77 per cent, heavy industry by 32 per cent, and emissions from buildings by 42 per cent.

The oil and gas projection is not good enough for several environment organizations, which say Canada's overall target is still not ambitious enough and that within that target the oil and gas sector isn't pulling its weight.

Meanwhile the Chinese coal factories go brrrrrrt. Different environment though.

Localizing climate action without a common global effort is pointless.

So like, has anyone asked the Liberals if they know where the raw materials for batteries comes from?

Rolling blackouts due to strain on the power grid will also be fun.

To be light about this, people that vote liberal are fucking retarded, electric vehicle mass adoption is fucking retarded, saving the planet beliefs and thinking any of this will help in the long run, is, well, fucking retarded. I feel like I listen to billy Madison dissecting the little puppy who lost his way every time I listen to these new ides, hopes, forecasts, anything government and future green dream related really

It’s illegal to run a power cable over the sidewalk.

Opting for the wireless car charging pad with the cable directionally drilled under existing sidewalk.

If anyone thinks these politicians don't have advisors for this sort of thing to tell them that we do not have grid capacity to handle such aggressive plans, you're out to lunch. They're well aware of the problems this is going to create. So yes, it is certainly the plan to cause these disruptions. That doesn't mean it's the lizard people trying to harvest our souls or whatever lunacy you're attempting to conflate that I'm insinuating as some sort of conspiracy theorist.

I don't know if the purpose is to be able to rush through a massive emergency infrastructure spending bill in the future, that just so happens to be contracted to Truedeaus family shell construction company? But these disruptions are part of the plan none the less.

I wouldn't worry about that too much since there won't be adequate plug-ins for 1/5 vehicles to begin with!

People have to sleep. Electricity draw is extremely low at that time. Charge an electric vehicle to 90% overnight every night is definitely possible, along with a one hour topoff to 100% just before sunrise.

The grid can absolutely handle it. In fact, if you slightly oversize the battery by about 50 pounds (20 pounds of nickel) you can run a significant portion of your household by feeding unused juice from excess off the battery.

Someone modelled it already. Get 15% of the population on electric vehicles that can feed back into the household - and peak electricity smooths out significantly. It ends up being better for the grid.

What would really help push this idea is if they move to HDTV's and refridgerators that accept USB-C 100 watt inputs on timers or IoT aware. During the night, they accept normal grid power, during the day they can be programmed or simply single button on remote "use solar power" to suck on a DC 12 or 24 volt (battery or battery+solar) source if available. 90% of HDTV's in America convert from 120 volt AC to 19 volt DC anyhow.

Dare to live the dream, will definitely be more realistic when QD solar coated cells arrive.
