In reality, the plan will plan itself?
I suspect the budget is busy balancing itself for tomorrow.
The budget is busy balancing itself on the back of dirty Alberta tax money.

God, I wish Alberta would separate if only to see Canada go bankrupt.

Great, now we get to do that 100,000 times over.

Also, people in not shitty countries hate overhead power lines. With a passion.

Hydro right? Hydro is a massive GHG emitter. It's currently ignored in Canada. It will eventually have to be dealt with.

Stopping hydro power is one of the WWF's goals. You know, that organization that Butts ran.

I'm not sure you're understanding the problem. We have to replace all of the combustion energy that O&G produces with electrical energy.

Like we have to heat our houses with electricity.

We have to fly planes using electricity.

We have to cook using electricity.

We have to generate all electricity with non-fossil fuel sources. That's a challenge in and of itself. What's the baseload going to be? Wood?

So yeah, we need lots and lots and lots of lines. If the primary source of power is going to be electricity, then that infrastructure needs to be very, very, very reliable, which means lots and lots of redundancy.
Do you even know what a Smart Grid is?

Gotta replace all natural gas with....something. Then transmit that something to houses and commercial buildings that need heat and hot water.

Exactly why Canada needs a Smart Grid and Smart Meters.

In reality, most people will get home from work and plug-in during peak electricity hours. Unless there's variable pricing and incentives to charge overnight, it will just add to demand during peak evening hours.

Don't worry, the social influencers got this..

How sea-salted clouds, solar and social influencers could help with climate change (CBC Science)
Social influencers and thought leaders can also increase the adoption of low-carbon technologies, behaviours and lifestyles, it said.

Will it be like last time? Tax payers pay for it, then sold to a foreign owned corporation for peanuts and my monthly utility bills rival a mortgage payment?

    No thanks.

The Liberals are literally just fucking Alberta around at this point for shits and giggles.

Like it is so blatant as to be perverse. I don't think the feds understand that people are trying to leave this country in droves, and these people are the ones with the $$$$ to make investments and grow the economy.

They're prolly all climate change deniers and racists who stand alongside swastikas, so, no big's.
We need to focus on the important issues, like changing the $10 bill again. I don't think it's been changed in like a year and there's not enough trannies reconciling on it.

The grid could be made smart, but the car can also be made smart.

Say, you come home at 5pm and the car is still at 70% charge. The car can be programmed to know that its mostly full, and only turn on charging at the exact few non-peak hours it needs to get to 90%, and then slow trickle topoff until sunrise. If you want to go out for the evening, just say "Google / Alexa I'm heading out later" or a simple thumb button on the handle and it will do a normal charge immediately as you plug it in.

It can even be tailored to each individual city, where the car knows what hours are minimal demand for that city, and will draw maximum power on those hours. its not exactly the same for everywhere afterall.

The people leading us should be amongst the brightest minds in Canada, because they deal with complex problems on the daily. Unfortunately, we only attract idiots and slightly charismatic dopes to make policy.

Obvious solution is to separate Canada along the 49th. This country as a whole is a mess.

The people who would make great country leaders are too smart to get into politics.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government approved Equinor ASA’s proposal to drill for oil off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, amid calls from Canada’s Western allies for help in diminishing Europe’s reliance on Russian energy.
So SNC must be involved right? Because Alberta oil bad - nfld oil good

In general I approve or oil and gas project approvals. But I do have some concerns that any kind of similarly sized project west Ottawa would not get the same approval. Sigh. So many feels.
