Golf lingo is the absolute worst of all the douchey lingos out there.

The only time I'll use the term "track" when referring to a golf course, is when I'm calling a public golf course for the poors a "goat track".
    No.

As an avid golfer who plays regularly during the summer, membership at one club doesn't make sense for me. I don't want to feel like I need to play X amount of rounds to make up the cost difference. I think it works out to 45 rounds (18 tracked holes) until the membership fees even out vs paying each time. It also gives you the opportunity to play at different courses in the area. Also fuck paying for cart fees, walk with a push cart.

It doesn’t bother me that some people know what they like and make that their purpose.

In some ways I envy that level of focus.

    It’s cute when you try.

    Next time though, try harder.

But yes stereotypical crossfitters are very annoying.

They're the easiest to spot because they cover their cars in stickers and often have ironman tattoos.

I don't know where they hang out, I don't come across them. I think that means I'm doing things right.

It varies by club, but you basically got it. Pay up front, pay yearly dues, and usually there's some sort of annual capital fund, or periodic special assessments for large capital projects (or both). Those "basic" fees give you unlimited access to golf and driving range, usually club cleaning/storage, locker, etc. Everything else is over and above (pro shop purchases, food and bev, tournament fees, etc etc). Most decent courses have simulators to use during winter, some charge a nominal fee/hr to use them.
Do you get equity or anything? I'm not sure I like *anything* enough to spend $70,000 on it if I can't get at least a bit back a couple years down the road.

Some clubs are full equity (mine is 100% shareholder owned between 500 shareholders; share price dictated by market value and an additional fee of 50% of sale price is payable to the club at time of sale as an "activation fee"), many clubs are non-equity (glencoe, CGCC, Earl Grey - you pay once and never see the money again), some clubs are partial equity (Priddis - you pay for a share, but IIRC it's only actually 2/3 of a share; it's not a 100% shareholder-owned club, club has some control over share sale price, etc).
