I don't want to say things here that would be either libelous or prejudicial to future legal actions, so I won't comment on the specific situation. I will say that generally constructive dismissal is pretty specific and doesn't apply to all the situations you'd think.

As for my personal situation, I plan to use the extra hours to look for new employment and not for the betterment of the company who decided not to pay me for them.

That's extremely shitty sir. This is precisely why I went public sector though - Things are great while business is booming but the peons are the first to get fucked in a downtown while the CEO, CFO and other brass still eat their double meat subs...

I thought this was an early Covid program? Haven’t seen it in a while… last time I saw it it was an amusement park related company and they had all the office staff on it for obvious business slowdown, but I believe it was only good for about 6 months?

That or the art room is going to see a lot more activity.

Never the less, it's a bummer for ES - if he's handy with wood then my wife and I could slide some barrel work his way - stuff we don't have the time to do.
    Will fuck off, again.

Makes sense that his wife wants someone else to handle the wood work…

I was on Work Sharing a few years ago. It is pretty much to help the company go though a rough patch for a company. It helps keeps workers working as much as possible without having to fully lay them off. The company has to apply for it and have to have a proposal on how it is going to be temporary and how it will work on getting things back to normal. If I remember right we also had to do status reports every couple of weeks as well with our hours.

Also if I remember right the EI does not count towards your regular EI if things don't get better and they have to let you go.

If you work too much or get a side job then they will reduce the amount that the work share EI will give you.

I don't understand how this works. I must be missing something, so I'm sorry if I'm being a big dummy.

Aren't the thresholds for earning outside of EI so incredibly low that working 3 days a week at Wal-Mart would subtract your EI to zero?
Is this a completely separate program from EI because although I haven't had to deal with EI in a long time, I thought it was impossible to earn any money outside of it.

Yeah it’s not the same, last time I had it approve a deal with it, the annual income expected was well over even insurable earnings of EI

    - what happens if you "make too much"?
Necro-bump because my taxes this year gave me a clear answer to that question. if your annual earnings are over $79k, and you received ANY work-sharing EI benefits in that tax year, 30% of those benefits immediately becomes an amount owing on your taxes, in additon to the normal taxes you pay on the remainder as ordinary income.

So yeah, this program is pretty useless and annoying for beyonders.

EDIT: And just to be clear, I've been off that program for a long time now, although I am still (for now) with the same employer.
