I think one time I told a peer colleague (let me emphasize not a subordinate... ) words to the effect of "Yeah, you're prolly gonna wanna just go by "J" I'm thinkin..."

But his name was Jihad, so... It's not like I was telling that to Chin Wong or something.

No kidding. The complainant in that situation sounds like a wet blanket.

    Probably because they undervalue ES.
Late to the discussion. Not sure if this applies directly to ES's situation, but one thing I've noticed over the last 5 years or so is companies may actually need 15-20 years of experience, but based on job postings I've seen they're only willing to pay for 5-7 years of experience. That's a big disconnect.

Enormous penis length and girth is holding back more people than us mortals realize.
ES has been dealt a bad hand and he's been a trooper, thus far.

I'm pretty sure Jlude does industrial/Infrastructure etc
These days we do mostly large structural projects, with a small mix of smaller structural/miscellaneous steel projects. The bulk of our work is Amazon (sort and non-sort facilities), data centers (for a variety of companies), battery facilities and believe it or not, massive movie studios in Georgia. We do work on schools, courthouses, medical office buildings and multi-story buildings, but our specialty is large scale, fast paced, design build projects.

90% of our work is in the USA, but we still do some stuff in Canada. We're doing a couple of LRT stations in Quebec and I get asked to do random schools, arenas and convention centers from time to time in Canada also.

    I haven't done O&G work in 10 years.

Yes and no. My primary residence is in Winnipeg, and I have an office there, but I have lived in south Florida since 2020.

I haven’t done much in Canada in recent years and didn’t do YYC4.

Still in the same boat as previously. Still looking. Have been watching on job at a large producer that's been posted, and then pulled, three times in the last 11 months. They have not interviewed external candidates at all in that time. They just posted it for the fourth time this week, and made a couple small edits to the description as well as dropping the salary. I've applied again. Good times.

Have a side-project that I'm trying like hell to turn into my main project. Just need them to pay me.

Well, none of the things mentioned earlier in this thread worked out, and eventually the current employer did return me to full time and full pay, but the company did not magically turn itself around to be an excellent workplace.

However, I never stopped looking, farming some opportunities, and it look like one is ready to pay off. this is another of the "there's no posting but they'd make a bespoke position for me" kind of situations. I seem to either attract those, or am attracted to them, hard to say which. Have had an informal discussion on the type of compensation they should put in the job offer, and have been told to expect a draft of that written job offer very soon.

I'm fucking excited. Likely no linkedin update for about a month, for , reasons...
