Default OMG!!! Someone with internet/google/website knowledge please help!!!

I am having serious issues with our website that are snowballing and need help to get back to normal...

Okay, so last week, literally overnight, I noticed that my website customer inquiries dropped to zero, right in the middle of the second busiest time of the year. Totally weird as I am fielding inquiries daily even in the slow time. I hoped it was a one or two day anomaly but nope, things are goofy. I started doing google searches with the generic terms etc that always pulled us up near the top and we all of a sudden no longer appear. Even on google maps our location just does not pull up unless searched directly for the most part when it always has. In short, people are not finding our site organically.

So after checking all the business stuff I have done with Google, nothing has changed at all so my next call was to the company that runs our website thinking maybe some kind of internal optimization aspect has changed ( in my very limited understanding it sounded reasonable in my head). They insisted that nothing changed on their end and it has to be something with the hosting company (GoDaddy). Next call to GoDaddy and they say that something has changed from the website company and it was not on their end. They tried making some changes and now our website does not even come up!

Neither company seems to be willing to actually figure out what the heck is going on. I want them to communicate together to figure out what might be wrong but they both just insist nothing has changed on their own ends and that it must be the other guys issue. I have zero idea on how to best work through and resolve this.

Does anyone have any experience or ideas on what I should be doing next to try and get this solved? Am I right in thinking the two companies should be doing this for me as part of my service or am I completely fucked? I am getting better at this stuff but so far I have had no experience with these kinds of issues to draw from...

I am hoping the amazing minds of Beyond can help direct me!

Guessing your SSL certificate expired. That'd be through godaddy. Check its set to renew as well as check your credit card is up to date and didn't expire.

All renewals are active and plenty of time out on card expiry (2023)

They did say they made some changes yesterday and that was when the site went down but this morning they said they reverted everything back to normal. They said it may take a bit of time to come into effect. Not sure if that even makes sense but there you go.

Getting the site back up is obviously a priority, but I also need to figure out why we are not showing up on any searches organically anymore.

i just tried to go there and the domain isnt linked to the hosting... chekc the nameservers on the domain company, make sure they align with what your hosting company says

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

I just sent you a test quote request, see if you get it. Using Chrome if it matters, and I think our internet is currently through Kelowna

    DNS is fine:

    https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx...a&run=toolpage

Your DNS records on your computer are probably cached, so it's taking you to the old address.

    Reboot and try.

Hows the support through your host? That's one of the reasona back in the day when I had my company I used Siteground. Incredible support.

Yeah fine for me now too. Likely a dns cache from when they reverted changes and took a while to update.

Take into consideration if there are any DNS changes or updates that it takes time to reflect across the internet.

This can be fairly quick or sometimes slower depending on how things are for each ISP.

Upsetting someones DNS can make for a bad day.

Whoever did it did it wrong, plain and simple. There is absolutely no reason to have a DNS-caused outage other than pure incompetence.

Well we seem to have that solved, but the issue of having great rankings to almost zero google presence overnight is the next aspect.

That goes hand in hand. Google detects issues with the site and it gets passed over for searches. Give it a couple days and it should be back. If you want some sort of help just get a bunch of random people to google it and click through google and it'll quickly realize its fine again.
