Knock on wood but my Samsung fridge, range and dishwasher celebrated their 5th birthday this month. No issues with anything. The ice-maker seems to be a real issue on these fridges but I've never turned that feature on so factor that in, maybe.

We have a Bosch dishwasher that was in the ~ $600-700 range that we put in a little over 5 years ago that still going fine. Its much quieter than our old one. The only complaint I have is if different shaped plates lie too close to each other in the bottom rack there might be a bit of residue remaining in between. But I think that's more the dishes' fault and not a specific Bosch problem. When I don't pack it so stuffed and ensure clearance everywhere there's usually no issue.

My sister is a huge Miele fan, but went with a high(est?) end Bosch instead. Can't go wrong at the end high of the range for either brand though. Obligatory fuck Samsung.

14 year old Samsung washer and dryer - still working like new with not one issue over that time frame.
    Will fuck off, again.

The older stuff is much more reliable than the newer stuff.

I'd say about 7-8 years ago they got too big to QC properly.

The Bosch insides are seemingly quite reliable. It's the outside they have problems with, esp those goddamned door handles.

I'm sure someone can find my posts about it, but I had to replace a Bosch motor a few years ago.

Why does every dishwasher look like a 1st yr mechanical engineer final project?
2 cheap pump motors, the flexible drain house is made of worst possible plastic there is. It's not flexible and I bet given hot enough water and time, could melt.
The drain seals look the same as a used 1960's GM coolant hose.
The technology has changed very little and some people have more washing sprayers in their showers today than on a dishwasher.

Yea but it connects to my iPad so that has to count for something right?

because the market has decided that cheap shit is preferable to quality shit.

Most importantly. That a dramatic reduction in quality can be excused for a very moderate drop in cost.

See how many people are willing to pay a months salary for a dishwasher in 2022 and you will have your answer.

What really concerns me is the fact that tripling the cost doesn't seem to change the quality.

just got a letter in the mail for 'proactive product service' for Kitchenaid dishwasher that I just replaced the drain pump on, apparently the heater element brass bushing is shit and exposes the rubber washer which then ends up leaking lol

Perhaps. But quadrupling it certainly does.
