Second, Musk is not necessarily saying that Twitter will have those things. Twitter as a payment platform is useless. Twitter does not do IM, and it's probably not worth having it either.

All I am saying is it's not hard for him to build one off Twitter user base but will people resist or play along?

Google+ tried real ID a decade ago and it killed that platform immediately.

Will people be more receptive to real profile on the internet now that Musk seems to want push Twitter towards? I don't see other ways if he banned KG. And what's stopping me from creating @CPSCalgary and paying $8 to have it verified then start scamming people?

If the old process to get verified is so tedious and manual, I can't see they can verify all users who paid $8 in any speedy fashion other than just give that tag away to anyone that pay.
