Google+ tried real ID a decade ago and it killed that platform immediately.

Will people be more receptive to real profile on the internet now that Musk seems to want push Twitter towards? I don't see other ways if he banned KG. And what's stopping me from creating @CPSCalgary and paying $8 to have it verified then start scamming people?

If the old process to get verified is so tedious and manual, I can't see they can verify all users who paid $8 in any speedy fashion other than just give that tag away to anyone that pay.

Nobody requires the blue checkmark. Google+ didn't die because of real ID lol. It died because it sucked and couldn't compete with FB at the time.

Do you realize when someone with a blue checkmark impersonates other people it undermines the the whole point of the blue checkmark?

Even Twitter's content moderators get confused - I've seen featured posts from fake accounts posing as the real account. It happened to Elliot Friedman multiple times. This is what happens when the platform is run by people that only give a shit about politics.

These companies are ok with their ads being placed next to BLM riots and calls for violence by the left, but as soon as there is even a hint of this changing in the future, gone.
