That’s a direct attack on capitalism.
Did you expect anything less from the federal government.

Any of you went to line up at Harry Hays recently? Curious if there’s a separate line for express/urgent, and how early one needs to show up.

Also heard paid line waiters are banned now? How are they enforcing that?

Just wanna figure out strategy before taking some time off.
I just went this month so here's my experience. No separate lines for urgent/regular.

    - 6AM the building opens and they escort you inside
    - 7AM they start seating you in a lecture room. It's organized into 2 groups (over/under 48hrs until travel). Security doesn't ask for proof.
    - 8AM, the under 48hrs group gets priority to lineup at service canada and the rest gets slotted in as space opens up. They bring groups of ~15 people from that room to service canada at a time and once you're there you'll be assigned a ticket.

I believe they were turning away people whose travel date is +45 days away. People started lining up by 5AM but if you have an itinerary within 48 hrs, I would just show up at 7AM since you get priority. I don't see how they can enforce line waiters, it would be very easy to pull off as nobody checks your documents until you get to service canada.

After spending the night outside Complexe Guy Favreau downtown, Christian Bourque said Tuesday he expected to have to wait another night before getting a chance to renew his daughter’s passport.

Bourque was one of dozens of people — many of whom had flights within 48 hours — who were camped out hoping to renew travel documents for themselves or a child. Bourque, who was trying to renew his 15-year-old daughter’s passport, arrived in line on Monday and said he thought he would be able to enter the office by Wednesday.

A friend of use went to the south location at 9:30am on a monday and was out my 12:30pm despite the line being at least 50 people strong when I dropped her off. She went with a rush application (travel less than 45) and is receiving it next week. Other than the line up, seemed like a pretty easy and reasonable process all things considering.

Only cucked Canadians could call the current passport debacle “reasonable”

Can anyone recommend a good place for passport photos downtown?

I remember liking a place near Harry Hays but I don't see it on Google maps and have no idea if it's still there.

Last time I went I grabbed them from a place in the Scotia building on the main floor across from mcdicks.

Dunno about “good”. Definitely good enough.

There's like a thousand places that do passport photos. Every London drugs, shoppers, blacks does them. There's easily 20 places downtown that do.

I wish we owned cameras, printers, a ruler and scissors. The requirements for a passport photo are LoL.

It's so little hassle that I don't think I'd bother at home.

Half of service Canada emoyees were working from home in May.
As of May 11th, 2022, there were 18,362 Service Canada employees with a teleworking agreement. The geographical location of employees who are working from home is: 3,209 in the Atlantic Region, 6,389 in the Ontario Region, 3,629 in the Quebec Region, and 5,135 in the Western Region. This data was pulled from the Departmental HR system.

You need to have the photos stamped by the photographer on the back.

I'm on to maybe my 7th or 8th passport (I used to fill them up every couple of years, even when they were 48-pages) and I'm sure my "professional photos" were rejected at least twice because of a little bit of shadow or shine or whatever other shit the passport people want to nitpick that day so it's worth going to someone that knows exactly how the photo needs to be.
