    A week overdue?

Have you read the thread lol.
I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, letting it go a week, I already knew it wasn't gonna be here, but better to start a claim now, rather than never fucking receive it.

We had emailed when it wasn't delivered on day stated (before all the delays became public) got an email 3 weeks later saying there's delays.
Woke up and dialed into the call centre (roughly a month past stated delivery date) and they said nothing has been scanned yet.
The call centre can check the status for you but good luck getting through.
I tried calling a second time and they have changed the call in setup. Only allowing you to call in at your local time zone opening times and I could never get through to the call queue.

Before the change, got up at 5:30am MST, called and immediately got in the queue. Google Call Hold worked wonders for me at that point.
1.5hrs on hold and got to talk to a person.

I would encourage anyone who has kids and might want a passport, get it started now and you can wait it out.

My biggest piece of advice at this point is if you apply, do it in person, they will photo copy your birth certificate, etc there after verifying it. If you mail it in you send the originals and quite a few people in line with my wife were escalating as they didn’t have their passports within a few days of travel and didn’t have the originals anymore to reapply.

And if you are doing short term travel (within 45 days) don’t even bother applying and hoping it gets better. Just show up early 2 days prior and get in the priority rush line and call it a day.

The "hold for me" function is a lifesaver. Listening to hold music in your headphones for hours give you brain worms.

My biggest piece of advice is to book refundable tickets, take advantage of the 48h express option, and get it done that way. The amount paid to get that done to alleviate last minute stress is worth every penny.

I don’t think I could’ve done it anyways last minute legitimately with our summer plans. Flights to Toronto only, and plan to cross border at Niagara Falls.

Best to just fly with a carry on and buy cheap walmart clothes to throw away.

Kids can carry gym bags too. Just train them well.

I went to the Sundance office yesterday and got my application submitted in about one hour. I went around 10:30am and the staff were commenting that there were less people than usual.

I did have to pay the $50 express fee but they said they'd have it ready for pick-up at Harry Hays on July 14th.

They were turning away people who weren't traveling in July/August. I heard one guy say he was traveling in September and they told him to come back in a few weeks or try one of the service offices for mail-in applications.

My wife had an appt today to apply for my sons passport. Only took a few mins to get help from someone, they said October ETA. Our trip isn't til Jan, so have a couple months buffer. That being said, I'm mentally preparing to go 3 days before we leave and pay more money to actually get it.

Here's an idea that might help a small number of people but not solve any underlying problems.

Submit mail-in application, wait 20 days, get it transferred to local office for trips that are then within 20 days.

Called in last week to see a status update since the 3 day status update didn't happen, it's been a month and still no update.

When I called, still no update. Traveling in October, submitted in May, hoping it all works out. They did say I should probably get it by then but no guarantees lol

Mine was 5 months. But was guaranteed 3 months after which didn't happen.
Your story sounds very familiar. Hope it works out.

That’s a terrible idea IMO, if you mail in your application, you have to send in the original documents. If they lose or can’t transfer your file in 20 days, which has happened to people, you can’t reapply. as your docs are stuck in the mail, under a pile of applications, fallen behind a desk, etc.

I would highly recommend if you are anywhere near the 45 days period, wait until then, then apply in person and they give your docs back.

I'm waiting for my daughter's still. My ex mailed all of the paperwork in February. I requested an update through the website a few weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. We are travelling at the end of October so hopefully there are no issues getting it before then.

I would suspect soon. They did actually call the references on the form asking verification questions.
After that it was a week to get it.
So if your references say they got a call, you're close.

Well don't think this helps. But it's an action, and involves hiring, so....

So I have a passport application appt for my daughter in rural Ab on Oct 7. Just want to confirm a few things:
    1. Does the photo need to have the name of the actual photog? London drugs stamped it with the location/address/date but not the photog's name. The Canada website makes it unclear as it says "photographer's name".
    2. My travel is booked for late Jan. Does that matter at all at the appt?
    3. Can my "proof of travel" be a hotel booking? If so, maybe a hotel in bellingham or Montana might be worthwhile and I can book that on like Oct 15 to get the rush?
    Tap, Rack, BANG!
