Tip speeds don't increase or decrease much with different rotor diameters. The rpm needed for full power is slower the larger it is. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing hits full production at 10rpm or so

Aside from a dick measuring contest, I don't see the benefit of having one giant one, vs several smaller ones. When it needs maintenance, it'll have zero output, if you had 2-3 smaller sizes, you can have one down and still be generating.

I wonder if larger ones are (in general) more efficient? Maybe the greater inertia is of benefit? Like if the wind stopped, how long would it freewheel?

I know in turbochargers, it's opposite. 2 smaller ones are better than an equal output bigger one .
