Default Suggestions for wall mounting TV with studs off center

Looking to mount a flush fit LG tv that has a built in wall mount. The wall mount is not very wide and doesn't give the flexibility to have it offset as it fits into the back of the TV. The wall I'm mounting on has studs that are off center by about 5 inches. Anyone have suggestions? Could i use a piece of plywood and mount that to the studs and then mount the TV to that? What's the thinnest piece of plywood I could use as I would prefer to have the TV as flush to the wall as possible. I was thinking I could cut out a piece of drywall, then install some plywood and paint to try and blend it in, but I suspect I would make a mess of things as I'm not very handy.

Yes to plywood. This is a very common technique.
I'm not certain about the min thickness. I would roughly guess 3/8"

I've used these in the past and they've given no issue.

Is there no option to use a regular mount?

Yeah the plywood route is a good idea. Paint a square of 3/8” plywood white and screw it to the studs, and be done with it. There are more elegant solutions, but you start getting diminishing returns pretty quickly. I wouldn’t cut the drywall out if you aren’t super handy. It’s not a hard job, but if you make a mess of it, it’s something you’ll always notice when you’re beside the tv.

How big of TV are we talking? a 55" vs 77" are pretty different weights.

TVs nowadays aren't that heavy, you'd be safe with some toggle bolts as each bolt probably has more capacity than the TV would weigh. Plus the flush mounts keeps the TV right against the wall so it's not as heavy of load as some of the mounts that angle off the wall or rotate away. Just buy good hardware and you'd be fine assuming you aren't expecting kids to try and hang on the TV.

Yea I’d say if you can hit one stud and use some solid hardware on the other side I wouldn’t lose a lot of sleep

Unless there’s absolutely no other option (spoiler: there’s usually another option), I don’t use drywall anchors. If you absolutely have to use them; the toggle ones are definitely the best though.

I could but then the tv would lose the flush fit against the wall which I prefer

Same. I hit one stud with my 75” frame, and then this on the other side. They’d hold you up…
