Angry Party car - now with more party

Figured I'd start a build thread here, since I feel like it's going to be an adventure.

Last fall I blew it up at Rad Torque (fka Castrol), I really wanted to beat the guy in a Subaru again - and I did. I managed to get my best time so far, a 13.6 at 103 mph. Not bad for FWD 1.6l Turbo.

How does one blow up a Fiesta ST?
Well, they don't really like when you shift from 4 to 3 at 160 km/hr - 9000 rpms may work in Honda engines, not so much in Ford engines.

Towed it back to the house and started the teardown - it was a slow process since I've never done an engine swap in my life, so I took my time taking things apart and learning.

    What was the damage?
So far, we know that all the valves are bent and I've broken the cam shaft strap over cylinder 4 - it's definitely not happy. We plan on taking the block apart further after we get the engine in from the builder.

So, what may you ask is going in the car?
Another 1.6 Litre Ford engine, however - this one is special. Ordered from Mountune in California - it is their 1.6l MRX engine - fully race prepped and forged, good for up to 400 hp.

    Head:
    Piper stage 2 camshafts

... but since I went full send, why not actually go full send.

We have this pile of parts waiting to be installed.

    Custom shift boot from Billetworkz
POWERFLEX Fiesta ST Front Upper Engine Mount
POWERFLEX Fiesta ST transmission mount insert
    Whoosh Aluminum Shifter Base Bushings
    Whoosh Transmission Cable Bracket Bushings

At this current point in time, we're waiting on the engine.

If you managed to see the car at Driven - yep, it didn't have an engine and yep, we trailered it in.

We're hoping that the engine will come in any week now, and then the fun begins!

    Awesome. Great job

Are you the awesome person that organized a track day at Stratotech many years ago perhaps for a breast cancer cause? If so, you are awesome. I got so many laps in at that thing, I burned my brake pads off!
    All the best!

    Edit:
Are larger fuel injectors possibly missing from your list?

    Like.

If you're indeed missing fuel injectors, Joel @ Canadian Performance Injection is awesome to deal with, local to Edmonton.

Awesome! Nothing like a money shift at the drag strip to ruin your budget for the year though. Good to see you're still around!

Sadly nope, this is not me

However yes, larger injectors may become something we do down the line, it’s definitely on the radar

Hondas do not usually live through a money shift that high either, the sudden unload seems to fuck stuff up.

I can't complain about somebody spending stupid amounts of money on a car. Unless you don't do a big smokey burnout with the new motor, then I will complain.

So we’ve been waiting on the engine since pretty much November last year, we’re finally seeing some motion on it. Supply chain issues are a bitch. We had been waiting on supertech for the intake and exhaust valves, and they’re still delayed. We chatted with Mountune last week and they’re going to swap in the OE Ford valves. This shouldn’t reduce the potential output or reliability at all.

The engine is going into their build shop this week and shipping soon!

While we wait, we’re prepping the shop and doing little projects around the car (like underglow because that’s trendy again…)

Thanks for the amazing response guys, I’m really excited to see (and hear) this thing.

Well after 7 months of waiting and supply chain BS, a crate showed up while I was in a meeting

I've never recieved a crate before and it was so neat! It's nearly as large as my car and DHL was nice enough to bring a pallet jack and a truck with a lift.

Was really surprised about the duties too, we thought we'd be paying over $1500 on the engine and only paid around $400

Once the crate was opened, this is it! It's pretty tiny in there, but it looks so fresh and clean.

Mountune also sent us a bunch of gaskets and rings for the engine install, so we'll be doing inventory of the parts we've been amassing from Ford and the parts we got from Mountune.

I'm off on vacation for the next week and a bit, so this evening was a planning evening. We took some time to brainstorm everything we needed to do to get the car back together and tossed it on the list. It's a bit out of order since 'remove bumper and crash bar' are at the bottom of the list, but you get the gist.

Tomorrow (after a few other less interesting tasks), we begin the install!

Also, since it's great timing - it's time for me to update my registration and I've been tossing around the idea for a vanity plate: JELLYBN or ANGRYBN?
