    No.

They should make it illegal to manufacture a gun.

Oh, wait. It already is illegal.

They should make it double illegal.

Don’t worry. Government will just take away computers and have us use government Computers at the library where they can keep an eye on what people are doing.

No need to worry if you have nothing to hide. If it saves even one life.

Whether you are 12 or 82 that course and final test is the same. I had a 10 year old in my NR class. I don't think that 10 y/o wants to learn to shoot a 308 in order to get a license. That thing would scare the shit of most people. And I honestly believe the shooting competency of most firearms owners is not necessary a requirement for a license either. To go back to you driving example, there are tons of legal drivers on the road that are just terrible. So in short I believe that the testing requirements are adaquate in Canada and our processes are head and shoulders above the US requirements.
The irony is that a drivers license in the hand of a shitty driver is far more dangerous than a gun license in the hand of some guy who is just a terrible shot. You're not out aiming your gun into crowds and trying to shoot targets around them, there is literally zero benefit to gain by ensuring a licensed gun owner can handle a gun properly. However, a bad driver that can't handle a car is most certainly endangering every other motorist they come in the vicinity of.

Speaking of bullshit...been a week since I purchased my CZ and 5 days for the other one and still no confirmation or updates from the CFO. I had heard for the first time owners, it takes time to begin with but with the mad rush presently, I imagine it's taking even longer.
@shakalaka not sure if your approval has gone through yet but I bought mine on June 2nd and just got the approval notification today.

I got my transfer certificate on the CZ that I bought first and have picked it up since. Though still waiting on the registration so can't really try it out at the range.

Been waiting on transfer certificate on both the Ruger and Chiappa I subsequently bought. Cabela's online shows the lock that is mandatory purchase is backordered, but not sure how that interferes with the CFO/transfer certificate aspect. And the Chiappa was online from The Shooting Edge and after the initial order email, haven't heard anything from them either.

Abnormal times man... Just gotta roll with it. They just do not have the bodies available to deal with the influx of firearms purchases right now. So crazy!

Absolutely, just being patient I guess. Not like I have any specific plans for them anyway so not in a huge rush I suppose. Would be nice to be updated with what is happening though I guess but it is what it is.

When I went to pick up the CZ at Phoenix Shooting Range here in Edmonton, I asked them if they were expecting to get more stock and the guy was like basically no. He's like because we don't know if we will be able to sell whatever we buy before it's too late, we can't take the risk of spending too much of our money in the hopes that it will all sell.
