I’ve always had a soft spot for a 45 USP.

I’m guessing due to their price point there are a few floating around.
Picked up a 9mm USP this week. Always wanted a USP just couldn't justify it until this, they had one left in the tactical at CSC so I kinda had to.

Everyone needs a Colt 1911 .45ACP in their collection...
That was my suggestion as well. I learned to shoot on a .38 Smith my father was issued, as well as the 1911 he owned (National Match Colt). The grip angle for the 1911 usually fits every one, it's wide and narrow in all the right places IMO. Capacity is less usually (most are single stack, but there are double stack 1911s around, still limited to 10 here though, and why spoil that great grip size/angle when you only get 2 more rounds). Lots of decent brands out there, if $ isn't an issue, KnighHawk's 9mm 1911 is my personal pick, that or a Kimber Super Match, Gold Combat, or something from another maker that's similar to those, in .45 ACP.

One thing about the HK USPs - they have an extremely easy slide to manipulate, with the dual spring setup they use, it's probably their best feature IMO.

1911’s are so easy to shoot well.

I have to try so much less hard to shoot ringers with a 1911 than my polymer Walther and I don’t even own one.

At this point 9mm nearly costs what 45 does, so its not like they are more expensive to shoot now either lol

Hey, better idea, just lose them over the side of my boat and you don't have to worry about selling them. It's parked in my back yard, very convenient.

Can’t remember the exact number but there are like 20 million registered handguns in Canada. Way more than AR’s.

At around $1k per pop a buyback would be hella expensive even for Trudeau. Real bad optics too when people are starving from inflation and Trudeau is cutting a $20B check to gun owners. Unlikely to happen.

The bet is that they all get grandfathered, just like the last round of prohibs in this country.

Also you know the cold dead hands crowd.
Aren't ARs and equivalent prohibited? Thus, the only way you can get one is if it's inherited?

Like I said, I'm for laws that could crackdown on smuggling and red flags. But I think a general handgun ban is a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist in Canada.

To answer a previous question about what I think is missing within the education part of the Canadian licensing process:

I think there should be a more hands-on component that not includes not only the ACTS and PROVE of a firearm, but also includes the actual operation and firing of said gun(s).
I think there should be more than a classroom component to the firearms licensing process.
I think the educators should have more say in an applicant's candidacy for a license.

Overall, I think gun advocates, particularly those in America, should be more upset that there asshats like the guy in Uvalde and the guy in Buffalo who give gun ownership a bad name, and they should be supporting controls that limit the accessibility of people like that to guns.

Does being competent in the use of a firearm make you less likely to use it to commit a crime? If I go into a range and prove I’m a good shot does that make me any less likely to be a psychopath?

We need to make sure that licensure requirements are logically targeted toward the intended goal of those requirements.

I don’t think any of the prohibited AR categories allow for inheritance. So you can only “get one” if you already had one. No transfers either to my understanding. There is no special license class for owning prohib AR’s like there is for prohib handguns which some of the classes allowed for transfers within the pool of licensees and/or inheritance.

Tbh the only thing latest gun laws point to logically as a goal is disarmament of citizens. Now the government claims that is not the goal. That is inherently dishonest.

The Liberals should just honestly run on the platform of disarming the Canadian population and having next to no civilian gun ownership if that’s what they want.

But they don’t do that, just like the rest of the things liberals do rather than what they say. Because they are inherently full of shit.

People who provide commentary on the firearm situation in our country need to leave all references to the US model out of the argument. The firearm situation in Canada and the US is drastically different. Now in my opinion the laws surrounding handguns in Canada are insanely strict and people who say we need tougher laws on restricted firearms don't realize what the standard is currently.

And to your points about firearm testing, have you completed the course yourself?

Speaking of bullshit...been a week since I purchased my CZ and 5 days for the other one and still no confirmation or updates from the CFO. I had heard for the first time owners, it takes time to begin with but with the mad rush presently, I imagine it's taking even longer.
