    Default Italy - getting around

Well I messed up and didn't apply for an international drivers license so renting a car to drive the coast will not work.

What are some other options from going to city to city? Bus? personal driver?

Assuming you haven't left the country yet, you can get an IDP from any AMA office in like 15 minutes. They take a couple of passport photos, you fill out a form, and they hand it to you on the spot.

Train system is pretty decent. I only felt the need to drive when travelling between Naples and Positano and from Florence throughout Tuscany.

this, when are you flying to Italy?
I went to the AMA sunridge mall few days prior to our flight last year and they were able to give me my IdP within the same day.

but taking the train from city to city and taking the metro in the cities were a lot of fun. where in Italy are you going again?

technically you should incase you get pulled over, but yeah when I drove in Italy/Croatia few years ago I didnt get one but for 25$ it's one less thing you have to worry about.

There's no way you're driving in Italy. Lol.
I said, I'd never drive in France again. My buddy who lives in Italy said, come to Italy. We'll really show you...

I found driving in Dubai much more dubious than Italy

Genius! Thank you. I was reading on the site that it takes a few weeks but I called and said if I go in it's done on the spot. I'm here now getting it done

I've always wanted to drive along the coast, it's something I'd just like on my bucket list

I never needed an international license and I rented a BMW for 3 weeks 5 years ago no issues through SIXT.

If that's a bucket list item, not going to shit on it.

I too have used Sixt in Germany. No issues.
See if you can get a Sixt card. Maybe it gets you some discount, etc.
Been so long I forgot what the card offers.

There are lots of crazy/bad drivers in Dubai but the narrow roads, weird intersections, and quantity of cars/motorcycles/bikes/scooters/people in most of Europe make it way more difficult.
