Probably a shift cable doesn't have the anchoring C clips on so cable is lose in the bracket.
dont they have to line up with something?
Bring back to whoever did it. Dont fuck with it. Otherwise he can blame it on you.
yea thanks, will bring it back today

Just if those clips aren't in, the whole cable moves and actually doesn't move as far in one direction. The inner part of the cable is what should move.
For whatever reason (tough in text to explain but similar to a bike cable adjustment barrel). If the whole cable moves, it explains why you can get into gears that pull the cable (1&2) as it is in place and outer cable doesn't move; can get into gears where cable is slack or not moving (3&4) and can't get into gears that push the cable (5&6) as the clip is missing.
I believe this is a simple fix. Not to worry that your transmission is broken or clutch installed wrong.
You might say....
Getting clipped is important?
That + Vtec = 9.0s car. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Post the name of the shop so we know who to avoid.
Mechanics who are too lazy to go on a 10 min test drive and end up missing something like this, then cost me half a day to bring my car back to fix their problem is a major trigger for me.
