    Default no 5 and 6 gears after clutch install

    hey all,
    2012 civic si, after installing the new clutch, i cannot get to 5 and 6 gears
    1 2 3 4 R all working fine./
    probably will bring back to the mechanic, but thought any of you guys might know why.
    im thinking its the shifter cables

    Probably a shift cable doesn't have the anchoring C clips on so cable is lose in the bracket.

    dont they have to line up with something?

    Just if those clips aren't in, the whole cable moves and actually doesn't move as far in one direction. The inner part of the cable is what should move.
    For whatever reason (tough in text to explain but similar to a bike cable adjustment barrel). If the whole cable moves, it explains why you can get into gears that pull the cable (1&2) as it is in place and outer cable doesn't move; can get into gears where cable is slack or not moving (3&4) and can't get into gears that push the cable (5&6) as the clip is missing.

    I believe this is a simple fix. Not to worry that your transmission is broken or clutch installed wrong.

    Post the name of the shop so we know who to avoid.

    Mechanics who are too lazy to go on a 10 min test drive and end up missing something like this, then cost me half a day to bring my car back to fix their problem is a major trigger for me.
