Was there a 2013 E9X M3?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
FYI is just in the South Korea market. Testing the waters perhaps but I can't get on board with nonsense like this as if you purchased a car with the hardware it's kind of criminal to activate/deactivate remotely based on a subscription. I hope if fails miserably in that market so they don't get any funny ideas about bringing it to other market.
I can get on board with this but I want a base base option as well. And I’ll add and delete things as I go on a monthly basis lol
Summer I’ll remove heated seats

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
Every business model in history that has implemented a subscription has seen exactly this same hand wringing and knashing of teeth.
It's pretty entertaining.
Charge a subscription to allow them to move into the left lane and you're basically printing your own money. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My list of random For Sale (some free) stuff
How much $/month to shrink those horrific gashes in the new BMW grille?
Audi was talking about this when I worked for them in 2016. A Japanese company is considering it as well in future models.
I can see it on things that actually cost money on an ongoing basis (FSD, or anything that uses a cellular signal etc). What I can't get behind is when they try to do it with a fixed piece of hardware that they are installing at the factory anyway. If the first owner pays the one-time fee to unlock a feature and sells the car, will BMW disable it and try to force the new owner to pay again? F that S.
I've been kind of considering an i4, but not if they start this crap.

SAAS companies are some of the most profitable in the world. Manufacturing companies are not. There's a reason that Tesla keeps saying it's "not an manufacturing company". I think all the car companies have taken notice. Feathers are going to get ruffled while they figure out how and how much they can do this.
Does that then mean they're 100% responsible for maintenance costs?
Who are the people using heated seats? Do they not have garages or park underground at work?
I would be willing to pay a one time fee to disable the annoying engine auto shutdown though
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
I suppose most would, which is what they are banking on. However, I think the concept of restricting access to features where the hardware is already available is too obvious of a cash grab that I personally wouldn't buy it based on premise. It's an absolutely retarded idea which is solely designed to make BMW more money at the expense of their customer. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm sure they'll find a way to void your warranty if you do.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
People are very willing to accept this concept when it comes to engine power. Same motor, different power figures depending on which version you buy. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If the upgrade costs $500 vs the subscription costs $18, you're better off using the sub for a 2 year term. And using the subscription puts the money into BMW's pocket rather than splitting it with the dealership. I don't know how the dealership model works full disclosure.
Still, dumb.
If this is successful,I can see them detune the engine then move to a subscription based performance upgrade. $200/mth to unlock M/AMG/RS performance.
