My first one had an issue where its fans would stop and it would cook itself until emergency shutoff with no warning. Brand new work unit, so off to warranty.
Its replacement also has weird fan behaviour and unless its cranked to max performance on the battery setting, it frequently struggles and bogs down under fairly basic tasks.
    i7 chip, but Dunno!

My dell had a Ryzen. I basically threw $1000 in the garbage. Maybe it was the dell. Piece of shit.

Like I've said, this NUC is a beast for 1 grand.

Costco had some really nice MSI laptops that are tempting as a business machine, at least last time I was in there.

Is there a decent slightly more rugged 12-14" chromebook-ish?

Starting to realize I'm getting old, schematics seem to be getting harder to read on the phone... Pondering just grabbing one of the pixel books but figured I'd ask if there's better choices, without getting into toughbooks...

We just refreshed our laptops… I, being a man (who doesn’t even game) went absolute overkill on the premise of not wanting a completely taxed unit while running 3 screens and teams (like every single dell and Lenovo corporate special).

So naturally I got the #1 gaming laptop from newegg for $1300 (gigabyte G6)

Then for the Mrs.’ I landed on a zenbook, same gen as you have linked there, but slightly more at $1200 (on sale at staples) and now I’m jealous.

It’s a really nice package, 12th gen i7 evo, oled, huge battery, super compact but still 14” screen with full sized keyboard and even has a virtual num pad that lights up on the trackpad when crunching some numbers…. And even has a touchscreen to boot (can get a stylus too).

Biggest thing is deciding if you need a big screen or not.

I personally would rather work on my iPhone than ever use a surface for real work. I’m stuck in the work of 16”+ screens.

Portability sucks but that’s a trade off I can live with, for some portability is king.

Depending on how good your eyes are, resolution is a key component to that as well. The zenbook at 14” can have more data on it than my 15.6”… but currently it’s set to 175%, could probably do 125% but eye fatigue would be real.

If I worked more at locations without a monitor setup to plug into I’d probably research a portable 2nd monitor as I do like as much desktop as possible, flipping between windows is inefficient

My Wife went into M.E. and ended up with this.. was a bit cheaper in store. Salesman said it was an easy recommendation.

Grabbed an i7 /16gig/512gb pixelbook on the weekend for 250$. So far only hiccup is ifleet app isn't playing nice. But that's just usual phone vs tablet issues.

Still a super nice convertible tablet. Debating grabbing the stylus.

If I were you I'd return that AMD while you still can and go get this NUC.

This things a beast (comparitively) Currently doing teams calls, 40 tabs open in chrome, excel models hogging RAM, outlook, 10 pdfs open, no lag and chugs along.

I had suggested that one, and my Wife specifically asked at M.E. about it, but they were out of stock everywhere. (Which lines up with what is shown online) Neither of us are IT saavy, so she went with what was suggested by the salesperson.

The people at memory express are good for retrieving a specific SKU you ask for from the back and not much else.

Unless you have a time machine to go back to pre-2010ish when they were all actually very knowledgeable and helpful.
