Always good to have the funds available to you if an investment opportunity rolls around. Use the HELOC for that. Don't listen to these people telling you to HELOC a supercar. A depreciating asset should never be purchased using your primary residence as collateral. That's just asking for trouble.
    What the shak!

shak giving automotive financial advice is impressive. Although his corporation is one of the few that can handle his lifestyle.

Congrats DJ, it's an accomplishment you should feel proud of.

I remember the first home I built and took a mortgage on, I'd constantly think about what it'd be like in 20 years once it was gone. I was fortunate to be able to sell that one and upgrade a few times in the real estate boom, plus I made out very well on good timing in Ft Mac with the same. I do remember the first time I was mortgage free (and debt free) well, and it was a great feeling. I hope you feel the same.

    Congrats

    Welcome to the club

I would take the money you normally had for a mortgage payment and start investing that monthly into a good long term ETF fund, make sure you turn the drip on and watch your money grow.

    It’s so much fun

Bleh. At our ages it's almost pointless. Reality is it is absolutely imperative to save in your 20s and 30s.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Congrats. Been mortgage free for last 5 years at least, and it was great....was being the key word. Got bored with having money....so bought an acreage, and now will be poor for a few years

Don't forget to have a mortgage burning party, nothing thinly veiled about that but screw it, it's a good cause for celebration plus you can afford it now!

Kind of funny I also made my final payment yesterday when this thread was started. I’ve have young kids at home so all my money will go towards repairing all the shit they destroy on a daily basis.

you are basically batting 1000 on what cars are going to go up in value. What's the next one to go up?
Right now I’ve put my money on the Aventador replacement so we’ll see how that one goes. Waiting for the used market to cool off before betting on anything else
