    Which mall?
New Horizon Mall, that weird mostly empty cube farm just south of CrossIron.

That new horizon smell is the bug farming operation. Enterra feeds.

I stepped out of the south entrance of New Horizon Mall on wednesday afternoon last week (on my way back home north) and was hit with a horrendous smell I couldn't identity. It really permeated the air.

Is that related to what this article is about, or does the NE side have its own odor problem?
Manure? City spread tons around bike paths around Tuscany, that and 30c+ temp created a stench so foul and I had to step up the pace to power thru it.

I was at New Horizon for a car show last wednesday and that smell is fucking really really really gross. I have a pretty high tolerance for stuff like that and I was like choking gagging when the wind would shift and waft it at me.

Who would imagine that a rural mall would have agricultural smells?

It's not agricultural, it's like roasting an ant with a magnifying glass times a billion.

Ohhh. I re-read the thread. No, this is in reference to a smell somewhere around 114th (I presume) just West of Stoney. The smell can travel depending on the wind.

I smelled it again yesterday, but oddly 114th smelled ok and I only noticed it once I got onto Stoney. The stench lasted until almost Glenmore while travelling north. This is actually the first time I smelled it once I got on Stoney.

Considering how far north it travelled yesterday, it's not surprise that it would travel a similar distance south and bothering the citizens down there.

It's really bad. It's like half a sulphur smell, and half a dead animal smell. It's quite nauseating.

There is that contaminated slew... I mean bird sanctuary behind Copperfield. When it dries out it can smell really bad.

And it looks like they are scraping the top layer of the old landfill off Barlow and 114th too. Just started 2 weeks ago.

The landfill is always mentioned, but not the literal pools of shit just off 52nd at 114 Ave. All the solids from the wastewater treatment plants get sent to the lagoons there. Driving by on a hot day is the worst

On the bright side, it seems to stay east of 52nd most days. Copperfield and new Brighton are while Mckenzie is just fine.

A few weeks back I was riding on 52nd leaving from New Brighton on my motorcycle and got the full impact of that smell cause I didn't have the benefit of a car's air filtration. Fuck that was gross haha

Who would have thought that living close to a landfill would cause a stink.
Can't smell the one in the NW even when you are right beside it in Beacon Hill or Royal Oak Center.

It's most likely the compost facility.

    Landfills basically never smell.

Opening up an old landfill is a horrifically bad smell. We had to trench in some gas pipes once and the smell was unbearable. Generally though, they don't have much of an odor.

This is always the complaint in Lethbridge on the north side cause the WWTP solids/lagoons are pretty bad sometimes.

Did they ever solve this one? I was up last weekend and made a couple trips around the SE but didn't catch any smell.

I wonder if that is related to that New World Order think tank crap that wants everyone to abandon meat consumption and eat bugs for protein.

100%. They are currently approved for feeding livestock only, but are working towards human consumption also.

Lb for lb the protein content in bugs is significantly higher than meat.

I was at a restaurant in Mexico once where they served salted crickets with their mescal. Like a side-dish. I had lots of both.

Know how I know you've never been to the dump before?
