I'm betting Rogers looks at the ratings and the advertising dollars and realized that a 15% drop in either wasn't a huge number, so the host is irrelevant to profitability.

I don't know of that's true, but I'm sure that's the idea.

A worse host is a big deal for the listeners, but then again, there's a core group that will never stop listening.

I imagine for most (but not Pinder) that it's a combination of shitty offers from Rogers and them seeing the massive pot of gold that other podcasters are making and hoping they can get a piece of it. A sliver of the podcast pie is probably going to be more than AM dominance.

A lot of stations had shakeups between the Rogers/iheart aquisitions & the pandemic. I listen occasionally because of my old city work truck.

I don't know about currently salary, but back in the early 2000s I had a bud who worked for CJAY for a solid $28k/year, lol. Gerry Forbes trained him actually - Met him at a golf thing he invited me to. It wasn't great money, hours were brutal with all promotions/live events but back then you could work your way up the ladder from late night to morning show host if people liked you - I doubt it works like that now that everything is corporate though.

Speaking of radio - Anyone remember Mix 1060? Was all rock/alternative. AM radio too - I'd have to sneak listen late at night on my walkman cause the parents didn't care for it one bit, lol

I really enjoyed those 3 and had fan960 on every morning driving to work. Sad to see them all leave but they have their reasons. Steinberg seems to be the only other 'core' piece that is still there
