Correlation between being a budget baller and abuse of multiquotes?

    Don’t be ridiculous.

    Kert isn’t a budget baller

Learnt my lesson, hence all my cars are under warranty. TCO might be more, but worth every dollar for the lack of stress. YMMV.
Fair statement. And no doubt, I'd love to have all new vehicles if I could afford to. To date, my taste (Jaguars, Audis, Porsche) have been expensive to maintain, of course, but I've never experienced anything like this. But from what you and others are indicating, par for the course so I'll consider myself lucky up to this point.

And you're right, Danno. If this was winter I'd be hooped as I buy summer tires for the Jaguar, so I should consider myself lucky it happened now. As luck turns out, I got a hole in the sidewall so there was a bit of transportation issues as I got that sorted out. At least I can get myself to work to pay for all this...

Personally only vehicles I ever owned outside of warranty are Japanese Hondas/Toyotas/Subarus and a 911 that’s it. The fear is very real whether real or not lol

I used to say that the warranty was the most expensive part of any vehicle, but then again I don't buy Euro stuff.

Do you even know if the battery and starter is faulty or is are you trusting the tech who’s just replacing parts based on codes? My stubborn dad continues to pour money into his mini, one of the most unreliable cars out there, and one of the mechanics was a follow the book code chaser and cost him a bunch of replacement parts for no reason.

I know you don’t want to hear it, and it’s been said many times, but owning something like this, it’s part of the game. They have a reputation for a reason, not just reliability standpoint, but difficult to figure out what’s actually wrong. I hate watching my dad pour money he barely has into the car cuz he likes it. It’s a never ending game and not worth the stress.

It’s the law of averages man. It’s all fun and games till luck runs out and bite you in the ass.

That’s basically my parents with their Mini right now. Didn’t have any issues till the last 2 years. Every little thing is just complicated to diagnose and repair, and expensive as fuck. Same with their GL, told them to dump it and offered to buy them a Toyota. Nope. It’s reliable, till it isn’t. Transmission issues now. Ran outta luck. Was one of the reasons we bought a minivan, time was running out on that thing being 12 years old, and stopped borrowing it for our trips.

In general, the NE/SE is THE spot where any Range Rover over 7 years old goes to quietly die in some backyard. Why do lower wage earners buy these things anyway? Just want to look balller? do people actually look at a guy driving a mid 2000’s Rover and think he’s rich? Just shows owner is irresponsible with money while going further into debt just keeping it running. Gotta toss on some gaudy chrome wheels with gold accents too.

OP I’m not in any way implying this is you lol. Just whenever I’m in the NE these things are literally as common as a Camry.

however, you could also put some red anodized wheels on it, and it would be camouflaged in Forest Lawn
