    Default Switching jobs regret

I was working at a company for about 10 years and moving around internally was very hard to do and pay increases were minimal.

I started to look externally and was offered a job on the same industry but different area of business. So far the job isn't what I have anticipated it would be and now I'm regretting the move.

I'm pretty bummed about it and wondering if anyone has experienced this and how it worked with them?

Grass is not always greener unfortunately. It happens.

Would you even bother putting the new place on a resume if it's only been a few months?

These days, yes, because job background checks are now a thing.

have you talked to the boss at the new place about how it's not what you thought? Do you see any way it could become something better?

And you can literally just say the job/role isn't what was discussed or what you had anticipated, not the right fit etc..

Yes. As an employer myself, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a potential hire saying this.

Unless the resume was littered with several short stints.

If they're contract jobs I wouldn't be too alarmed. I can always ask.

Took me trying out 4 different roles after leaving a long term one before I found something that 'stuck', ie. I enjoy the work and im compensated appropriately. Just keep trying new things. No harm in putting feelers out there.

Generally fine to move on if it's a poor fit, because if it can't be made into a better fit over time, you won't learn, grow, or perform in that position. Be gracious and accommodating on the way out so you don't hurt your reputation.

Just go groveling back to your previous job and request they take you back but with a raise. When they tell you to go f yourself then sue them for wrongful non-dismissal. Report back w/ results.

Had a discussion with my manager today and she agreed that the role is a mess right now, more than she thought it was (it's a new role in her group).

At least she is aware of it but hopefully she can change things up a bit to make it less of a gong show. As of now, I'm not using my years of industry experience.

Yes, sounds like you could take some leadership initiative and make it the job you want it to be perhaps?

Use all those years of experience to help her shape the role. It makes her job easier and your job better.
