Default No/low cost alternative to Lightroom

What is the go to alternative to LR? I used CaptureOne many years ago and it wasn't a well polished software.

I am not a fan of subscription (eg LR) so ideally I prefer a one-time payment if I have to pay for the software.

Gimp is more of a PS alternative.

LR is a unique beast. Too bad aperture isn’t a thing anymore.

CaptureOne is awesome but subscription-based now.

If you can manage to find a copy of LR 6, that was just before Adobe went subscription only.

Luminar, DxO, I think Corel has something. Most of these you pay for a version and then get a 'discount' to buy the latest version.

Just kneel and give your CC info to Adobe - it'll make your life easier.

Considering my cameras are old, I have no problem going back to LR6 but every time I try to cancel my plan, Adobe keeps offering me 3 months free for the Adobe Photography Plan, I try to cancel at least twice a year.

Looking at the title, I thought this was another Land Rover thread.

I guess the benefit of going with the LR subscription is I can use it with both my iPad and Macbook.

LR6 doesn’t even install on macs anymore, because the installer itself is 32 bit and they won’t update it lol. Ever since using LR classic on the new macs I dunno how I could ever go back to LR6.

I’m on friends aid staff plan, $100 a year for everything even tho I only use LR. Seems like a waste.

I'm jealous. Having Acrobat Pro and Illustrator was amazing.

Adobe seems to have neutered all the student/On The Hub plans too.
