    Default IKO Cambridge Shingles?

Looking to replace our roof, most companies quote Iko Cambridge as their standard shingles. My FIL says these are junk and to be avoided.

Anyone have experience or opinions on these shingles or this brand?

Pretty sure I've seen small signs on random streets here with a link to a website warning people about the poor quality of iko shingles and issues with warranty. Will try and find. I thought it was nuts. Unsure about its validity.

    Here it is https://www.classaction.org/iko-shingles

Seems like it is about organic shingles. Screw that. Of course they will fail. Perhaps another Beyonder has experience with their real products.

I replaced my Iko shingle roof at 20 years age, probably a few years premature as a preventative measure. Used Iko Cambridge shingles again around 8 years ago and no issues that I know of. They are just builder grade materials and priced accordingly. If you feel better spending 50% more of a roof, that is your right to do so. I don’t buy Walmart branded food for the same reason.

Installing any non-metal or concrete roof in a hail region is a bad choice, really, if you want longevity.

You can step up in quality for not much more money. I got Malarkey shingles, nothing is going through those fuckers.

I recently got the IKO Cambridges and they seem to hold up pretty well. I think a lot of the IKO class action issues were relating to a certain batch/type/year, but AFAIK these are pretty much a class standard. There's youtube videos comparing them as well.

Is there any "mid level" shingles that are worth the cost over basic 20 year ones?

The Cambridge are the mid level.
